Wonder what will happen if they can't find another place? They have over 80+ affiliates..maybe make one of those their flagship?

9. Dunno, But
I have confidence in Danny G...go getter, whipper snapper guy to find them a new place. Radio is really secretive about negotiations & such.

14. First off this article is 3 months old.. and secondly..
It's a right wing blog, obviously very partisan and very biased against Air America..
...just an observation..

4. WLIB blows anyway; AARadio should be on an FM signal.

6. I know they've worked out of the XM studios in DC in the past, maybe that
would be the way to go.

7. Is the XM studio a broadcast facility?
That doesn't really matter, I was just curious.

But AAR needs to buy their own stick somewhere. DC would be nice. A red state would be sweet!

11. Have you seen the numbers for "The Buzz" in Seattle, or 91.5 in LA?
talk can do quite well when the right mix is applied.

12. well, there are always exceptions... and there will be more...
...as Talk garners more popularity and profits. Soon, there will be no suitable AMs left to meet the demand. FM will fill the void. But as a general rule now, Talk does better on AM.

8. Randi just signed a new contract -- AAR will remain intact regardless
Hopefully there's another station in NYC since most of their hosts are based there (although making DC the flagship station wouldn't be bad).

15. *** AIR AMERICA GETS NEW NY FLAGSHIP - EXPANDS WEEKEND LINE-UP ***
Air America Gets New NY Flagship
Aug. 02, 2006
By Katy Bachman, Mediaweek

Air America has lined up a new New York flagship radio station for its left-leaning network. Beginning Sept. 1, the network will begin broadcasting on WWRL-AM owned by Access 1. Air America will supplant WWRL’s black format.

Since its launch in March 2004, WLIB-AM, owned by Inner City, has served as Air America’s New York flagship. The original lease for the station ran out March 31, but AAR managed to get an extension until Aug. 31.

“We are excited about our new affiliation and the platform this move will establish for Air America in the years ahead,” said Jim Wiggett, acting CEO of Air America, which airs on more than 80 stations plus XM Satellite Radio.

WLIB is expected to launch a progressive talk format and offer more local programming.

They will also be adding new weekend shows per some of the other articles on Google.
