August 2005: A photo essay celebrating Bush's "protection" of America.
Edited on Wed Aug-02-06 01:29 AM by Human Torch
...let's see. August 2005. I wonder if Bush was doing anything significant in August 2005...

Oh yeah. Now I remember. August 29th, sucking the tasty McCain birthday cake from his fingers:

...he also assured America's seniors that their prescriptions would be cheap, easy and convenient:

U.S. President George W. Bush smiles during a town hall-style meeting at a retirement community where he talked about Medicare prescription-drug benefits for senior citizens in El Mirage, Arizona August 29, 2005. Bush on Monday urged skeptical senior citizens to sign up for a new Medicare prescription drug benefit program, touting a choice of plans with monthly premiums as low as $20. REUTERS/Jeff Mitchell

Then on August 30th he pretended to strum a fake gee-tar presented by country singer and all-around nobody Mark Wills:

Let's see...was ANYTHING ELSE going on in late August? Oh yeah...

Bowie and Turner had decided to ride out Hurricane Katrina when they could not find a way to leave the city. Bowie, who had lung cancer, died when he ran out of oxygen Tuesday afternoon. Meanwhile, back at the Pig Farm in August 2002:

YEEEE-HA, boys 'n' girls! Time for our little essay to come to a close. As Rudy Giuliani said during the 2004 Republican National Convention, "Thank God George Bush is our President."

1. I remember...
I was in Crawford, TX, the day before the hurricane hit. The aftermath was as bad as/worse than 9/11.

Correction twice, the date to 2001. "Then, of course, there was August 2002. Hey, do you suppose anyone's reading that "Osama bin Laden determined to strike in U.S. using airplanes" document?"

3. You're right...I always thought those photos were pre-9/11...
...but the White House has them as 2002. I did change my comment, though. Thanks for pointing it out.
