1. Because she's an embarrassment, even to the GOP, where the
embarrassment threshold is high.

4. Not a chance
She never approached the level of competency that would present a threat. Her campaign quikcly descended into chaos because she's a lunatic.

2. Because she couldn't do any more for them.
The public simply didn't like her, they were done with her, and they weren't going to risk another trip to the Diebold well just to prop her ass up.

In short, she no longer has anything to offer them.

It's only business.

6. I agree - it also is very much like them to expose her mental problems
in every way they can now, because if she ever decided to go ahead and tell the truth about what happened in Florida and how they told her what to do, then they can claim her bitterness is fostering her delusions.

10. Ah, you know of the BFEE's ways, I see?
They are cunning masters, but they are getting careless. Soon they will fall.

3. She seems really desperate and missing some marbles
I think they used her. She was a groupie and now they're done with her.

I think they're afraid of her going down in a big way soon and just don't want to go with her.

8. She could't win, and they didn't want the attention drawn to voting issues
Her campaign ran the risk of bringing up the Florida debacle, which had not only serious backlash potential against the whole Republican Party at a time when they can't handle it, but also has the potential of having embarrassing details revealed, making the public more aware of the obvious cheating in Florida in 2000.

It might be different if she had a chance to win, but she doesn't.

9. They got what they wanted from her and returned her a seat
in the house.

Then she wanted to be a Senator???? That was even too much for Florida.

11. You're ALL missing the point...
The reason the Washington establishment ditched "Paint-by-numbers" Kate is quite simple. If she got elected to the Senate from the obscurity of the House, then W and DICK would no longer be the two biggest boobs in the GOP. (Seriously, have you seen Kate in a tight shirt?? I think I know what happened to Pam Anderson's old "Stripper Boob XL" model implants!!)

Sorry, had to say it.

14. they deserted her because she can't win a statewide race
I don't believe she has any secrets to spill. All the cheating she did in the 2000 election was done out in the open -- voters removed from the rolls, stopping recounts. It isn't like she hired a crooked programmer.

They drew her a congressional seat as a reward for her faithfulness, but she's just too much of a joke and a flake to win statewide against any reasonable candidate, let alone a relatively well-liked incumbent. There's no way to get it close enough to fix.

15. Always puzzled me, too
After all, they've had and continue to have the looniest elected officials already. Inhofe, Coburn, Santorum, DeLay, etc., etc....

And is it because she's a woman? Well, there's "Mean Jean", Liddy Dole and Kay Bailey Hutchison. They're not being hounded from the party.

And sure, she's unpopular....now. But she sure was feted in 2000/2001. And since they've turned the big media guns on her, she does look bad. Every fault is amplified and projected to the world.

And you're right, they owed her (everything is about political capital and deficit to them).

The only thing I can think of is that she was getting too close to...... something.

And she had to be taken out.

16. They rewarded her with an easy-win house seat
They knew Katherine Harris was a nutjob but useful in defrauding the voters. So they gave her a district (conviently empty when the former occupant suddenly announced his retirement) and figured she would be happy with her reward but out of the limelight in the rest of Florida.

17. She wanted too much
She wasn't satisfied with being a congresscritter. That was easy to pull off; she ran in an area that is so loyal to Republicans that a washed up conch shell could win if it had an R after it.

Katherine was too ambitious for her own boobs. She didn't know her place.

I doubt she knows anything of value. She was just a sycophant. She thought she could advance her career by sucking up to the big guys. Ooops.
