"No commitment" Frank Lautenberg on Lieberman's 3rd party run
Edited on Tue Aug-01-06 05:50 AM by Sam Odom
With Long Island Sound as his backdrop, U.S. Sen. Frank Lautenberg, D-N.J., became the latest in a string of high-profile legislators to visit the state and endorse U.S. Sen. Joseph Lieberman...

"A Senate without Joe Lieberman would not be the Senate that could do the job," Lautenberg said yesterday, arguing primary voters should not "suddenly, whimsically" replace him with someone who has less experience.

But Lautenberg would not commit to supporting Lieberman if the incumbent loses to Lamont but gathers the 7,500 signatures necessary to appear as a petition candidate on the November ballot.
