Poll question: How many DUers knew there was a 50 state canvass on July 29th?
Part Dr Deans 50 state plan. Its a Get Out The Vote effort NOW... not in October.

This is classic campaign operations, Volunteers going door to door.

Did ya know? Did ya care? Did ya take part? Do ya wanna win the House back?

GO here and organize an event:

4. I didn't know,
but then again, there is no Senate race in South Dakota this year, and Ms. Herseth, for all her faults is, I believe, generally considered safe this year.

5. No one asked me to canvass.
A phone call from my local DNC office would've been nice.

6. It was more than a one day event.
It's a Hundred Days a Hundred Votes - canvass AND follow-up.

13. There will be another event in September
You're right.

I'm not sure exactly what's being planned but it was originally scheduled to be a training day for volunteers.

8. I knew and didn't participate in that one. Because...
Edited on Mon Jul-31-06 11:32 PM by BlueIris
I can't stand the "'activist 'community'" in my city. That was the only reason, as the strategy itself is valid. I just...most of them aren't liberals, aren't Democrats in anything other than name only, and are pieces of shit as people. I couldn't expose myself to that crowd again without a) fearing for my safety, (long story) my sanity, and my self-respect. I may or may not be able to find another city near me in which to canvass in the future.

And I guess that's all I'll say about that. I'm going to volunteer for candidates directly.

14. Excellent point
I contacted Tom Wyka running in NJ11, he told me what TOWN he would like us to canvass. Then I created an event at the website. SO I used DNC materials to support Tom Wyka. & Tom walked with me on saturday.

I have already created another canvass on Aug 19th.

11. I think you might as well give up here at DU.
People here are not that interested in activism at the DNC.

It is more of a place that is waiting for 08.

12. I may take more time to clarify on this later.
I really do think that 08 has a whole lot to do with the DNC posts being ignored here.

I may elaborate tomorrow, or may not. Not sure if it matters since 08 is the focus here, bringing into play the 04 problems.

06 should be the focus, but I think many unfortunately would be gleeful if it failed. I don't think they would feel that way if they understand that the chair would then go to an even more "centrist" fellow.

Oh, well, thanks for trying. Did you see the 3 other posts about activities Saturday? Mine disappeared again, and I would get in trouble for kicking it again probably.

19. I even posted about GA and NM, here is the link.
People are just not interested. We are active here both in DFA and DEC. It is hard, very hard in this area. Gets discouraging, but we do try.

It is even more discouraging to see how many are not really interested.

Here is the link.

20. FWIW, I participated in my very first fundraiser this past weekend
It was a private fundraiser for Jason Altmire (PA-4) with Howard Dean. It was my first political event and I feel very happy that I did something to support Jason.
