2. From Al Gore
From: "Al Gore" <dccc@dccc.org>
Subject: Betrayal of Trust
Date: Monday, July 31, 2006 1:07 PM

Dear Fellow Democrat,

In less than 100 days, history will be made.
http://www.dccc.org/r/18397/92623

The 2006 mid-term elections will be upon us and their outcome will determine the future of the Bush presidency and, in many ways, the future of our country.

There is no path to victory in 2008 elections if we do not have success in 2006 - it is just that simple.

President Bush, Dick Cheney and Karl Rove will either use their last two years to fulfill their wildest right-wing dreams, hoping to cement a "permanent Republican majority" as they put it, or face accountability and a progressive agenda in Congress for the first time.

And, that is why I am writing you. You have been instrumental in the DCCC's successes this year. Today, I ask that you take one more step and join me and my friends at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) in our historic campaign to win back the U.S. House by giving the most generous gift you possibly can to the DCCC today.

Less than 100 Days: Click here to Donate to the DCCC Today.
http://www.dccc.org/r/18398/92623

The work that the DCCC has been doing has already been paying off. Every week, more Republicans slide from the "safe" column into the "endangered" column as Democratic challengers grow, reach out and inspire voters, and fight for our core values.

Thanks to unprecedented grassroots support from people like you in the DCCC community, Democratic fundraising can compete with the Republican special interest war chest for the first time in memory.

The Republicans will stop at nothing to keep their grip on power, and we will need to go blow for blow with them every single day everywhere in the country if we are going to win and set our country in a new direction.

The DCCC is the only organization that is monitoring every House race, working with our campaigns to hone their message, and knock down Republican attacks -- helping them get their field plans off the ground, and exposing the Republicans for every misstep and betrayal of trust. They are fighting for all of us, and they are winning for all of us - but they need our help to make sure they have the resources for the final days.

And I know from experience that the DCCC is the organization that is critical to ensure that victory in November.

Less than 100 Days: Click here to Donate to the DCCC Today.
http://www.dccc.org/r/18399/92623

The past weeks have shown us what's at stake. More Democrats in Congress would mean a chance to override President Bush's veto on stem cell research; it means a reasonable minimum wage that will allow people a chance to live on a 40 hour work week; it means oversight and checks and balances on a foreign policy that has spun completely out of control. A Democratic majority would mean lower prescription drug costs and a progressive energy policy that works to dramatically reduce greenhouse gases that cause global warming. And it would mean an economy that works for all Americans, not just President Bush and Dick Cheney's cocktail party pals. We can change all these things if we win in November.

I truly believe that when we look back on 2006 it will be the year that the American people rose up and began the hard fight of taking back their country.

We must have a Democratic victory in November, and it simply won't happen without contributions from people like you. Your past support has helped the DCCC lay the ground work for our success in 2006, and your support in these last days will allow us to fight for every last inch against every last Republican who has rubber stamped the president's policies, covered up his scandals, and put his party before the American people.

Please do your part to bring an end to the Bush era by giving a generous gift to the DCCC today.

Sincerely,

Al Gore

P.S. We have an overriding task before us to do everything in our power to ensure that when America wakes up on November 8th, 2006, the Democratic Party is in control of the U.S. House of Representatives. Contribute to the DCCC today and make victory in less than 100 days a reality.

13. It's a big tent with some great people in it....
""We're going across the country to make our case," Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid of Nevada said. "We're going to reject the divisive politics of the last six years, and unite America behind an agenda that works for all."
His counterpart in the House, Nancy Pelosi of California, said Democrats offer change. "Americans know the country is going in the wrong direction," she said.
Republicans control Congress but the Iraq war, inflated gas prices and a soaring federal deficit have soured the political environment for the GOP. Polls show the public favors a Democratic takeover, and Democrats hope to make their closing pitches in a series of campaign events focused on issues including college affordability and Medicare prescription drugs. 14. I agree MrBenchley it's a big tent with good people!
The Conventional Wisdom Is Wrong

At the beginning of this election cycle, few believed that Democrats had a shot to retake the Senate.

Now, with exactly 100 days left until the midterm elections, conventional wisdom has been turned on its head. We need a six-seat swing to achieve a Democratic majority in the Senate and our candidates are currently polling ahead or within single digit margins in races for seven seats currently held by Republicans.

Thanks to you, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee's (DSCC) dedicated online community; we're once again poised to exceed our fundraising goals. Last week, we set a goal to raise over one million dollars by Labor Day. Today, we are already more than halfway there.

As the arm of the Democratic Party solely dedicated to electing Democrats to the Senate, the DSCC is funding the vital tools necessary for victory. The donations you've made over the last few weeks will help us finance a variety of initiatives including:

Our Media Response Project, which ensures that every single Republican attack is met head on.

Grassroots organizing activities.

An Election Day program with hundreds of attorneys ensuring that Republicans don't resort to voter intimidation and ballot manipulation at the voting booth.

The DSCC has worked with state party organizations to call more than 300,000 potential voters. Thanks to you, we can call 300,000 more.

There is still so much work to be done. If there was any question that Republicans will try to slander our candidates, it has been put to rest in Pennsylvania and Montana where the beleaguered campaigns of Rick Santorum and Conrad Burns have already began the mudslinging. The good news is that Democratic challengers Bob Casey and Jon Tester are ahead in the polls and staking out strong ethical positions in contrast to Burns' and Santorum's cronyism and corruption. The bad news is that Santorum has twice as much cash on hand as Casey. Burns has four times as much as Tester.

In the coming months, we'll need even more support from committed Democrats like you to fight these well-financed Republican incumbents. But today, I thank you, our online community for getting our 100 Days Out campaign off to a blistering start.

Sincerely,

Sen. Chuck Schumer

We don't like what's happening to our country and around the world, 06 is our STOP to Bush and those corrupt republicans, and those democrats that haven't step up to the plate either for working families.

We have to stop them NOW...there has to be no more of what is happening to all Americans, our sons and daughters being used in a war for profit at the lost of so many life's'. We seen it in Vietnam and we are watching it being done with this president that avoided that combat.

His dictatorship ruling and this congress that sells out the people of this country will no longer be, the sign of the times if we all pull together and get Democrats in 06. We know what they are doing to America, selling it bit by bit, till there's no more American Dream for the people to obtain.

America dies...NEVER!

We will NOT let this happen, we will WIN, if we all Join Together...Democrats, Independents and Honest Republicans, there are a few that see it too, what is going on in our country to our people and the lack of leadership with the mess that is happening in the Middle East.

DO All You Can To Make 06
our ticket for peace and prosperity for all people in America and around the World!

Republican White House, Republican Senate and Congress....I know friend what you are saying, look at the impreachment with Nixon for so much less but very necessary. Kill that power they hold and believe me they won't want to let go of it so it will take ALL of Us to Unite to fight and obtain this Victory for All people.

And getting that paper trail is necessary for accountability to our democracy with our votes so that the people have the power to choose!

25. I will be surprised if Democrats take back
power, simply because people just don't get it! Too many American voters don't have the common sense and intelligence to make the change. I thought the presidential elections was a joke, this will be the same. Seems people don't have enough sense to get out of the fire, they will just deny its there and get consumed by it! If the Democrats win control, I will throw a party and apologize for my statement, but, somehow, I don't think that will happen! I feel safe in my assessment, and, thats the sad thing about it.

30. Let's hope people go to the polls to vote Democrat
They usually do when they are hurting and the Middle Class is hurting.

There is No Voice in Washington for them, they are getting sold out, the dividing line is getting smaller between rich and poor because more middle class are hitting the poverty line. With prices going up on everything, wages stagnant, jobs overseas not to mention higher interest on those nasty charge cards, people are hurting and they are very worried.

All the COST on Iraq War disgusts them. Specially the biggest sacrifice, their daughters and sons who are over there dieing everyday.

That makes the NEED for change.
Getting the republicans out of power is the only answer for hope.

Thanks michaelpush for your honest expression and feelings, I understand. I too feel your anxiety and I am praying with hope this will turn around for all of us.

but, I wont hold my breath that people will come thru on this. I wish I could be more positive, but, I am a realist and approach it that way. Perhaps things will get even worse for the middle class by then ( I hate to hope for that, but, it seems the only way to get peoples head out of the sand).

Post Turtle!

While suturing a cut on the hand of a 75-year old Texas rancher whose hand
