that bothers me. It is as though the repukes have triangulated or extorted these politicians: support the right-wing agenda or the government won't support Israel. Let * kiss you Joe, or he will stop the war. Schumer is actually thinking about voting for Bolton because he is "good for Israel". Chuck, what about the rest of Bolton's crap? And not filibustering Alito or checking into voter fraud...total appeasement of the right wing in return for Israel? We watch the U.S. Constitution go down the drain and our country ruined so bush can get his oil and he dangles Israel for it. There is something wrong with this picture. There has to be a better way.

1. Israel has tremendous influence over our Government
And Chuck knows damn well that any Ambassador we have will be "good for Israel"; they always have been.

3. I'm a fan of Israel who has many Jewish friends
I hope you don't want to explode on me because I oppose the Israeli Right Wing's influence in our own government and silencing of moderate Israeli citizens.

5. I'm implying that Israel's right wing controls much of our foreign policy
and only a handful of Dems are willing to rebel against that.

9. WTF? You can't even admit that the Likud Party is a right-wing party?
Edited on Mon Jul-31-06 10:20 PM by w4rma
Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin was a member of the Israeli Labor Party and was assassinated by an Israeli right-winger who opposed Rabin's peace accords. Can you admit that either?

8. Fuck Israel.

Our support of Israel has two groups of supporters...those who support a Jewish homeland and those who view a foothold in the Middle East as a political benefit.

There may be merit to these positions, but neither goal trumps the long-term well being of the U.S.

Supporting an ass like Bolton simply because he's "good for Israel" is reason to vote somebody out of office. Schumer ( big surprise) is weaseling and gambling with our future.

Israel has become a greater hindrance to our well being than an asset (has been for some time, actually). If they won't behave and if we don't change our policies toward Israel, it's necessary that we cut them loose.

10. I can't even figure out how many Israelis die from terrorism
Edited on Mon Jul-31-06 10:30 PM by Mend
each year. I know it is horrendous and tragic that innocent women, children, and men die, but we lose 50,000 people a year to drunk drivers, and more to the Timothy McVeighs and the Columbine shooters, to robbery, crime, and disease. Surely death, however undeserved and tragic, is a natural part of being vulnerable humans as we all are....I wish Israel could have continued to endure, with the most of the world mourning their losses, too, and found another way. This is no longer the land of Abba Eban.
