Are House Democrats threatening to boycott Al-Maliki speech?
CNN said they were angry that Al-Maliki called for Israel to stop bombing Lebanon. Frist was chastizing them for it. Haven't heard any follow-up.

1. Yes, a few of our dumb assed Democratic Congress Members
are going to boycott Al-Maliki. They all mistakenly think that we'll respect them for behaving like horse's asses.

2. Talk about misguided thinking. Iraq is falling to peices.
Focus, people, focus on the crisis at hand!

They sure chose a strange time to suddenly grow a spine.

Democrats decry Maliki's comments on Israel

By Vicki Allen

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. congressional Democrats expressed alarm on Tuesday over Iraq's denunciation of Israel in the Middle East conflict, and some said Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki's address to Congress should be canceled unless he apologizes.

A group of about 20 House of Representatives Democrats sent a letter to House Speaker Dennis Hastert urging the Illinois Republican to secure an apology from Maliki or cancel the address on Wednesday to a joint meeting of Congress. Some said they planned to boycott the speech.

Hastert's spokesman, Ron Bonjean, said there was no intention of canceling Maliki's speech, and he accused Democrats of "political gamesmanship during an election year."

Iraq's U.S.-backed government denounced Israel's raids on Lebanon and Gaza. Maliki last week called for "the world to take quick stands to stop the Israeli aggression."

Senate Democrats in a letter to Maliki called his statements "very troubling" and asked for an explanation, but did not demand that his speech be canceled.

4. Very out of touch people. They sit in the comfort of their historic
offices and demand an apology from Al-Maliki, whose country they are destroying. American Congressmembers are so insultated from the world.

Pretty frickin amazing.

6. He should be boycotted but unfortunately these jack-asses
are doing ti for the wrong reason. The boycott should be to protest the puppet government doing bushes bidding in Iraq.

Hard to believe that Democrats support the slaughter of innocent civilians in Lebanon.

Disgusting.

9. Our Party has gone tone-deaf.
I swear they have. I am disgusted with every elected Democrat and those seeking to be elected, who have not come out loudly and strongly for a full cease-fire. Totally and utterly disgusted.

11. Kerry's letter objecting to Maliki's statements
Edited on Wed Jul-26-06 08:44 AM by onenote
I originally thought it was based on reports that Maliki had linked the insurgency to Israel. That turns out not to be the case. Rather, it appears that the objections are based on the concerns raised by Kerry in his letter to the WH. (Kerry didn't object to Maliki's speech, however. He just asked that it address certain issues).

12. Have you seen a link to his statement? That would help.
Right now we are relying on the media's interpretation. Varnish included.
