Poll question: The Likely Results of Condi's Mideast Vacation
The world is watching. Is this star rising? Will her diplomatic efforts be seen as success or failure?

of the incredibly stupid and very ill-advised destruction of the infrastructure of Lebanon. Enabling the mass displacement and suffering of at least 750,000 of the Lebanese people is unforgiveable. If the fully justified destruction of Hezbollah fighters was the goal, Israel and the US have demonstrated that they needed to cause massive destruction to test the military capacities of their enemy and verify the actual military stocks of Hezbollah,and victimize an entire country to test the precision of their own weapons and tactics.

Israel has proven that they can completely ruin the future of a country and generate enormous ill-will and seed future terrorists in a matter of days, as opposed to the tragic,destructive, and incredibly expensive American adventure in Iraq that has taken years and the deaths of thousands of men and women of the US military and hundreds of thousands of Iraqis. Surely neither Israel nor the US are stunned by the fierce resistance of the Hezbollah fighters, if they knew they were being trained and financed by Iran for years. What did they think Hezbollah was doing if not training and preparing for just this occasion?

This is your legacy Sec. Rice. Incompetence and waste. But let's not characterize this as a failure of women or Blacks or Black women. What other American Black woman has an oil tanker named in her honor?

9. Exactly.
++

Rice's job is not to be the peacemaker. She is only supposed to act like the peacemaker without actually accomplishing anything of substance.

Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld want this war. They want to see Israel blow Lebanon all to hell, killing thousands of innocent civilians. They want to destabilize the Middle East. This will drive up gas prices so they and their big oil buddies make billions of pure profit. It will also provoke the terrorists, making attacks like 9/11 more likely, which will enable them to turn up the fearmongering and score points for the elections. It'll give them justification to grab more power and take away more of our liberties.

8. You missed the category about visiting all the nice shoe stores.
Surely she wanted to check out some of the imported leatherworking items while she was over there. After all, Beirut was once regarded as the "Paris of the Mediterranean."
