Federally Funded Pregnancy Centers Mislead Teens
Congressman Henry Waxman released a new study finding that federally funded pregnancy centers mislead teens about medical risks of abortions. Female investigators, who posed as pregnant 17-year -olds seeking advice about unintended pregancy, telephone the 25 pregnancy resource centers that have recieved capacity-building funds from the Department of Health and Human Services. The results were alarming. Eighty-seven percent of the centers reached by investigators provided false or misleading information about abortion, telling investigators that abortion leads to breast cancer, infertility and mental illness. This disurbing tactic denies teenagers and women vital health information, prevents them from making an informed decision and is not an acceptable public health practice.

4. Federally-funded lies to vulnerable young women in high stress situations.
Compassionate conservatism is the utmost in hypocrisy.

5. This is what the right accuses pro-choice centers of...
which is NOT what happens. In my years of working with such organizations I never heard one counselor offer a pregnant woman any opinion on what she should do. She was always given "choices" and names of organizations that would honor "her decision." Adoption agencies, if she stated she wanted to carry full term and put her child up for adoption. Options for pre-natal care if she decided she wanted to carry full term and keep her baby.

They are and have always been the party of lies and manipulation, especially when it comes to women and choice.

Forgive my rant. This issue pisses me off.

LOL!

Tell her to continue to fight the good fight--she's got a sister in arms here on the coast! :hi: When I lived in Ill., I volunteered for the choice organizations and went to them for my well woman check-ups. They are a great group!

12. Have her take a look at this...
http://www.traditionalvalues.org/1/pph/html/680.php

I found it over a year ago. I think it's a fake, because there are inconsistencies in the conversation. I also believe they put the girl up to calling (entrapment) so they could manipulate the situation and make it look worse than it is. No one comitted a crime, they merely told the alleged girl what was required by law and informed her of her choices to determine pregnancy.

Everytime I see the transcript or listen to the tape it makes me ill.
