Today was the release of the Brennan Report which calls into question the security of e-voting machines. News services across the country have picked-up this story and it was big news on Lou Dobbs this evening. Lou Dobbs asked why none of the vendors have been on his program to defend their machines. Kitty Pilgrim said that Diebold has not returned calls, ES&S denied there are any problems and Sequoia said that the Brennan Report was not just about them so they didn't feel a need to respond. / Lou Dobb's on-line 'QuickPoll' question is "Do you believe that e-voting machines should be disallowed until their integrity can be assured?" 98% of the voters answered 'yes' as of the time of this report.

emailing are activists (it's not just a few people emailing each other) and they send out many emails to try to get more interest/activism in this topic. I believe they want to hear from interested persons and are willing to weed out the "chaff."

(Unfortunately, editing time has expired--otherwise, to be "safe", I would change the 2nd address to: contact1 at votersunite.org (the contact address at the votersunite website).)

6. for the record, it is NOT just the Touchscreen machines
the Brennan report says emphatically that optical scan machines are just as vulnerable. This is something I've been trying to hammer for the last few months. The Dems who are even starting to wake up on this are still convinced that they just need paper trails and all is well. this is not true!

7. This is an excellent - and very important - point.
OptiScan and E-Touch machines are equally vulnerable. The presence of a paper trail alone does not guarantee accuracy or prevent manipulation.

The entire voting process in this country needs to be overhauled if we hope to preserve Democracy.
