My letter to Sen. Menendez about this vote
on the Amendment:
Senator Menendez:
I fully support you and your bid for re-election, Senator. However, I am deeply disappointed today, that you voted for a Constitutional Amendment to ban flag desecration. While, I do not support burning the flag to protest, I also do not support changing the Constitutional, our most important document, because of a issue that you could just pass a regular law to deal with it. Also, this amendment would change the 1st amendment, which covers free speech which this falls over. I fully believe in your colleague, Senator Barbara Boxer's words that she spoke immediately after the debate. Thus, I am disappointed in your vote, yet I still fully support you for Senate this year.

Sincerely,
XXX

How is this? Any changes DU would suggest? Thanks.

1. Changes:
...desecration. While,<- - lose the comma

...do not support changing the Constitution{al}<- -remove that

...because of a(n)<- - add that

...which covers free speech and (add?) which this falls over<- - change to under

I really like Menendez; they all mess up upon occasion, apparently.

3. I think it is a good letter. Why are Democrats becoming
Republican lite when the majority of Americans are expressing anti administration and even more so anti Congressional favor. Do they not get that being more Republican makes their poll ratings go down even further?

How low can the polls go? Me thinks they are trying to win favor with the 33%, let's see, if we can get 2% of 33%, we lose?

Americans are looking for a change, and the Democrats are changing the wrong way!

4. How would Menedez have looked if he changed his vote?
He voted for it every time as a member of the House. He obviously believes in it.

He is about as liberal as you can get so I will gladly take him with this one wart rather than have Junior as my Senator.

5. Yes, I support Bob
And he is one of the most liberal senators. I just would like him to hear my opinion about this vote.

7. I agree - I've been very impressed
and think he's been doing well against Kean - but we should expect things to get nasty.

8. If you're not happy with him
I will trade you my Cuban Senator for your Cuban Senator.

10. C'mon, I'll throw in Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and the Diaz-Balart brothers too
You get four Cuban politicians for one Cuban politician.

11. Still no.
Maybe if you give me Cuba's WBC team to help fill the Yanks' injury holes. But I have to inspect them. After Jose Contras, I don't trust Cuban baseball players
