Scientists OK Gore's movie for accuracy - five stars
WASHINGTON - The nation's top climate scientists are giving "An Inconvenient Truth," Al Gore's documentary on global warming, five stars for accuracy.

The former vice president's movie — replete with the prospect of a flooded New York City, an inundated Florida, more and nastier hurricanes, worsening droughts, retreating glaciers and disappearing ice sheets — mostly got the science right, said all 19 climate scientists who had seen the movie or read the book and answered questions from The Associated Press.

The AP contacted more than 100 top climate researchers by e-mail and phone for their opinion. Among those contacted were vocal skeptics of climate change theory. Most scientists had not seen the movie, which is in limited release, or read the book.

But those who have seen it had the same general impression: Gore conveyed the science correctly; the world is getting hotter and it is a manmade catastrophe-in-the-making caused by the burning of fossil fuels.

1. Good to hear. I'm sure naysayers crouched waiting with knives out
waiting to slice and dice the details.

I really want to see this movie, but I know it'll upset me.

5. But I'll bet the media can find at least one who does not.
And in the interest of "balance" they will place him in front of cameras & microphones.

6. I just saw the movie
Gore's knowledge is breathtaking, as is the realization that here is a man who feels it's his life's work to bring this message to tbe people. One part that shocked me is how far behind the rest of the world we are in making fuel efficient vehicles. One of the richest nations in the world and we're behind CHINA, fergoshsakes! Gore is at different times smart and funny and you know he knows his stuff. It's SO nice to hear someone talk who doesn't sound like a third grader!

7. just got back from seeing it
awesome job explaining and emphasizing how critical it is that we act NOW. But the theatre only had about 20 people and i couldn't help thinking he is still preaching to the choir. How do we get others to take this seriously?

if he saw it he probably wouldn't understand it anyway (or he'd spend most of his time looking around for condi in the audience, spilling his popcorn and counting his twizlers)

10. Senate Committee Launches Taxpayer-Funded Misinformation Campaign
Senate Committee Launches Taxpayer-Funded Misinformation Campaign About Gore Movie

Your tax dollars are being used to fund a misinformation campaign about Al Gore’s movie, An Inconvenient Truth.

Yesterday, the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works issued a press release headlined “AP Incorrectly Claims Scientists Praise Gore’s Movie.” It doesn’t substantiate the claim. The AP contacted 100 climate scientists, including noted “climate skeptics,” and of the 19 that had seen the movie, all commended its accuracy.

The Committee release faulted the AP for not cherry-picking the handful of scientists around the world who make a living questioning the scientific consensus on global warming. For example, an Australian scientist named Bob Carter told an obscure Canadian paper that Gore’s arguments are “so weak that they are pathetic.” How could the AP exclude this kind of incisive analysis?
