Can. neo con Gen. Rick Hillier, Chief of Defense Staff popped up on

c-span's Wash. Journal this morning talking about the Canadian military in Afghanistan. he sounded just like our neo con military men. all is well in Afghan. except in one small area, which in no time Can. and US troops will have straightened out in no time.

Canada is in Afghan. because the Afghans asked them to come. Really???

he knows Karzai (sp) well and he's a grand fellow.

AND neo con Howard is ramping up Can. military more then ever cause the big bad terrorists will terrorize Canada if they don't.

it's sad to see Canada going over to the dark side

bet we see more of Hillier and company on the media

(saw but haven't read an article talking about Can. splitting up over resources)

1. Actually .. Afghansitan is the new Canadian Wedge of the neocons.
Hillier may be a hawk.. but we were all attacked on 9/11. And Taliban were supporting al Qaeda. So we have every right to be in Afghanistan. Taliban was nothing to be proud of.. remember the executions in the stadium?

Sorry. But Afghanistan is the neocon wedge for the next elections. Thankfully the Liberals will not fall for it. Thankfully...Canadians will not fall for it. Let's hope the NDP decide not to be "tools" of the New Conservative Party. Let's hope they see the difference.

2. Huh?
Your first paragraph undermines your second? If you are providing a rational justication for the war, then how does it become a 'wedge' issue? What exactly are Canadians not to fall for that YOU already did? And why would the Liberals or NDP be 'tools' for supporting the same thing you clearly support?

Incomprehensible and typical 'fake' anti-war rhetoric--if you accept the WHOLE thing, then it doesn't really make a lot of sense to critize people if they AGREE with your first paragraph, doesn't it?

3. It becomes a wedge issue when all the advice government gets
from military and external affairs and experts on terrorism agree we needed to go into Afghanistan. The very same people took a pass on Iraq. We were attacked that day. Nato was. And you may have been safely in a major Canadian city while the smaller cities had the potential jet bombs sent to them because they had not office towers. And the navy and the army were all on stand-by.

USA really was attacked. You really have to snuff out anyone who attacks your part of the world.

That being said.. the USA seems to have messed things up. Still doesn't mean we should let Afghanistan fall back to the Taliban. Feminist Muslims agree! Taliban and al Qaeda were scary bunch of nuts. Now they are a scary bunch of nuts in hiding.

Iraq and Iran are not the same thing.

And I for one would love to see Canadians .. the people.. lower their flags if god forbid we loose any more soldiers over there...cause Harper is cloning Canadian politics to USA. Especially since the USA has taxed us by starting other wars and made a victory in Afghanistan all the harder and more dangerous. We will have a high dollar. And we will need to either go into debt or join the American wetback to fight off our high dollar. I know Harper would cut taxes and cut social programs and spend on military ventures overseas with all that debt. I'm afraid of that. That we will get drawn in to more and more wars. As the USA runs around starting things and not finishing them with any amount planning.

So I'd rather see a win in Afghanistan in 3 years.. then that will be all. Unless somebody in Nato gets attacked or genocide takes place. I think that will be the Liberals policy. That and perhaps deficite spending on major education and child care.

Afghanistan will be used as a wedge by Harper. The question is will Canadians fall for it. And end up in endless wars.. sweeping up when Americans take off and start something else.

I don't expect the NDP to be pro-defensive war. But I expect that their leadership will be able to distinguish between that and aggressive war.

It is okay for me to be wary of wedges in the next Canadian election. I did make sense.

4. I meant greenback.. not wetback. Just read the Nation article on
on inflation. And Greenbacks are what US dollars are called. Don't want to know what wetback means.. but I'm guessing it is something really bad.
