Don't know if anyone saw this this week but it concerns war powers and basically the president getting a green light in regard to Iran by our "greenlight" congress.

AMENDMENT PURPOSE:
An amendment to prohibit any of the funds made available by the Act from being used to initiate military operations against Iran except in accordance with Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution of the United States.

On agreeing to the Hinchey amendment (A017) Failed by recorded vote: 158 - 262 (Roll no. 300).

The arguement, as I understand it, was that the amendment could have barred a quick response to an urgent threat.

For what it's worth.

Why don't we just give Bush all the power now--make him the dictator he wants to be, and he won't have to be involved with a pesky congress at all. Think of the money we'll save on all those congresspersons' health care alone.
