MO Senate: McCaskill (D) 49%, Talent (R) 43%
Among 800 likely voters polled last week, 49 percent supported state Auditor Claire McCaskill, a Democrat, in her quest to replace U.S. Sen. Jim Talent, R-Mo. That compared to 43 percent who favored retaining Talent, who has been in office since 2003. The remaining 8 percent were undecided.

In the poll, Ali noted, McCaskill had slightly higher approval ratings - and lower disapproval scores - than Talent did.

But Talent has the cash. His last campaign report, filed in April, showed him with more than twice as much in the bank as McCaskill. President George W. Bush is traveling to St. Louis on Wednesday to help Talent raise even more.

Family ties, clients put other Blunt in spotlight
By Jo Mannies

Andrew Blunt readily admits that he's out to make money.

But he adds that he doesn't expect or need help from his older brother, Gov. Matt Blunt, or his father, U.S. House Majority Whip Roy Blunt, R-Strafford.

"At the end of the day, I'm a private citizen, trying to put food on my family's table," Andrew Blunt says.

As a lawyer and lobbyist, Andrew Blunt appears to be pretty successful on that score. At age 30, he has amassed an impressive list of clients over the past five years that include the eastern Missouri electrical utility Ameren; the Missouri Hospital Association; the Missouri Automobile Dealers Association; BNSF Railway Co.; and AT&T of Missouri.

The Missouri Democratic Party calls Andrew Blunt a visible symbol of what it sees as "numerous and improper conflicts of interest" involving the Blunt administration and its ties to businesses that stand to gain from state policies.

8. skipos, thanks for posting this. It's a lift that this woman leads her
lame-brained opponent.

I understand about the cash but the trendline is very encouraging.

Go, Claire!
