Lynne Cheney in talk to kids praises 'telling the truth'
Edited on Wed Jun-21-06 06:12 PM by quaoar
Lynne Cheney spoke to a group of children at the Civil Rights Institute in Birmingham. She said America has a lot to teach the world. And she said that great figures in our history have been known for teling the truth.

Before she lectures students, maybe she should have a talk with her lying husband about the value of the truth.

"We have a lot to teach ourselves, but we also have a lot to teach the world," Cheney said, flanked by American flags and poster-sized drawings of the Washington Monument and Liberty Bell.

She also talked about the lives and accomplishments of blacks like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Sojourner Truth, who "reminded us that we weren't as good a country as we could be.

"Telling the truth is one of better things people who have changed our history have done."

15. meaning its all Clintons fault
because he lied. Just a way to link blame for whatever todays fake issue to Clinton. That seems to be the way the right wing echo chamber works.

5. lynne takes a back seat to nobody when it comes to lying.
shit -- she could teach deadeye a thing or two.

and lynne's favorite thing to lie about is education.

ironic she should try to ''educate'' anybody about anything least of all lying.

6. I wonder if she mentioned George Washington and the cherry tree?
You know, the one ol' Parson Weems evidently MADE UP? And about Mr. Washington and his monument.....I'm surprised that the RWnuts bring that up because in the Old Testament God says, "I hate obelisks." Oh well, I guess if it ain't Egyptian it ain't an obelisk. Or is that de Nile?

7. Does that include firing people who leak information?
Or is it okay if you're a Republican? Perhaps Mrs. Cheney would be kind enough to tell us which of the Ten Commandments high-ranking Republicans are exempt from following so that we don't have to keep track of what they say anymore, knowing that they will lie, kill and covet with impunity.

9. On the sheer weight of a disgusting personality, she's the very worst
of the bunch. She's worse than Deadeye, worse than Il Dunce, and way worse than XanaxLumpInTheBed. And that's saying a lot, since any one of those four could win in an intergalactic despicability contest.

11. You know she is also a children's author
I threw out every one of her books that was in my classroom several years ago. As soon as I realized it was THAT Lynne Cheney, I no longer wanted to stare at her name in my classroom library. And I refuse to share her literature with my students.

The whole family just makes me want to puke. They wouldn't know the truth if it smacked each one of them upside their heads.

17. Typical line of people like that....
"Do as I say, not as I do."

Lynne Cheney wouldn't know the truth if she was slapped up side her head with it.

Here's some truth, Lynne. You and your husband and your daughter and your husband's "so-called" boss are 4 of the biggest liars the world has ever known.

22. I can not STAND that woman!!!
H2S and I were just discussing her tonight. Of Chimpy, Pickles, Shooter and Lynn, somehow we agree Lynn is the most personally despicable.

Of course, Chimpy is more despicable in the sense that he's got the power to wield the most damage, and he is like nails on a chalkboard to both of us -- the sight and sound of him is more than we can bear (especially H2S, who hasn't made it through an entire SOTU address from Chimperor yet without me changing the channel from fear his rage was about to cause a heart attack).

But Lynn is somehow the epitome of GOP fakery, evil packaged as "nice." And ever since she made the remarks about Kerry ("what a tawdry stunt; this is not a nice man") for daring to call her daughter a child of GOD!!! She is at the top of my list for CAN NOT STANDS on a personal level.

No excuses for Chimpy -- a spoiled, egomaniacal, incompetent, illiterate asshole who's caused death and pain worldwide. But just as "people" -- on a visceral level -- Lynn Cheney tops my list.

31. Telling the truth
One of saddest legacies of this regime is the grotesque attitude exhibited toward gay people. While the Cheney family has gamely stepped up in defense and support of daughter Mary, the VP is part of an administration that is largely cynical about gay people, talking out of both sides of the mouth on issues like gay rights and civil unions. Both the President and the VP have made statements that can be construed as supportive of equality for gay people, but the end result in policy is DOMA and backslapping alliances with phobic preachers. Telling the truth is not what these guys are known for, and Lynne Cheney is well aware of it.

Is it just me...or does it even seem odd that THAT is what she took away from Dr. King's message?

Edited on Thu Jun-22-06 02:44 PM by The Wizard
Cheney and truth are incompatible. In the future, people with the last name Cheney will be legally changing their names much like the Hitlers did during the 40s. My friend had an Uncle Adolf who became Uncle Arthur in 1940.
Our pResident is a nut.
