OK, I have to ask this about fund-raising.
I saw on the news this evening that georgie is, again, going to another fund-raiser. (Can't remember where this time). The announcer said this is bush's 39th fundraiser and the video showed the chimp standing at the door of Air Force One waving and standing next to the GOP candidate for whom he is raising the money. My question is this. Do the American people pay for this, the candidate, or is the repug party billed for this? I sure don't want my tax dollars used for fuel for AF1 to haul chimpy's ass around the country stumping for some GOP candidate.

2. No
Actually the campaign pays for Air Force 1 unless the President is also making an official visit and then the cost is split. It has been like this for years.

4. LaLady is right, IIRC, the trick is to make each use of Air FOrce one
...as an offical visit, with a political stop, you know, justa quick stop....

6. Yep
You expressed what I was trying to say much better than me. It is like when they have a business convention that is in Orlando - they take their family along to Disney World and write off a large part of it.

5. But * has gone far overboard with this. Everytime he campaigns
he has some offical work he does so that the tax payers pay most or all of his fund raising bills.

3. Campaign pays
President Clinton also had to pay for campaign trips. I think that they can get very creative about what is a campaign and what is offical business though.
