2. Why did she have a white bandage around her neck?
If she thought that was fashionable she is flakier than I thought.

The affected speech was also over the top.

3. We didn't ask for this war?
What an odd thing to say. The Bush administration she helped install certainly did ask for this war. They wanted it so bad they could taste it. They were so hell bent on turning Dubya into a war president that they ignored an entire marquee of flashing red lights warning them against invading Iraq. But they knew better, oh so much better than the limp-wristed hand wringers who said that the invasion force was too small, or that there were no exit plans, or that they were stirring up a hornets' nest.

Now, four years later, the steely-eyed realists of the war party are wringing their hands, trying to reorder reality so that it looks like they're winning, and ignoring the plain, hard facts right before their eyes. And they had the nerve to call me a starry-eyed idealist (at best) or a goddam traitor (and worse) during the run-up to the invasion.

You've made your bed, Ms. Harris. I suggest you get comfortable.

4. She's right.
"We did not ask for this war."

Nope. Her illicit lover's brother -- and his cronies -- did.

9. Sure. Loverboy was a member of it.
Jeb ("The Intelligent One") Bush was one of the major lieutenants of the PNAC.

But Harris is basically one of those stock 1950s "dumb bimbos" who lost her looks and is now going not-so-gently into that good night. Her political acumen wasn't what was behind her position in Congress, it was her girlish charms. So she was hot when she was young(ish). But that's not a prerequisite for responsible statecraft.

Think I'm being sexist? In a way, I wish I was -- that ol' backslappin' male chauvinist bimbo humor would be a lot less offensive and destructive than the behavior of the modern Right Woman. This was the way a good many Republican girls rebelled. They decided to do the opposite of what those icky feminists were doing. And we're all paying the price today; Harris' recent melodramatizing, coupled with (please forgive the metaphor) her overall lack of public conscience, has been just a small window into the soul of the Stepford Wife -- although in this case, it's more like the "Stepford Moll".

That's why, every time I hear some idiot of either gender whine about "feminazis" who don't shave their underarms, my heart breaks a little, not just for the state of the American psyche, but for the future of the American republic. And when Katherine "Don't call me Kathy, call me Katherine" Harris performs a selection from 1962's Best Dramatic Monologues For Young Actors, I cringe.
