Do most DUers not care about winning this election?
Edited on Wed Jun-14-06 05:03 PM by ih8thegop
I posted this thread over the weekend asking people what they were doing to ensure that Democrats would win in Novenmber.

Only ten people replied. Out of thousands of DUers, only ten replied.

If you were one of those who replied, thank you.

If you didn't reply, but have been doing something, why not tell us? Share your story, and inspire people.

If you've done nothing, however - if you've sat on your Ashcroft at the expense of this party and this country - then I would like to ask you:

WHAT THE #^(& IS WRONG WITH YOU?!?!?!

I usually don't use this kind of language, but given the importance of this election, I feel I must be tough on those who aren't doing anything.

1. I think many DUers are more interested in forming circular firing squads
than working to get our majorities back. A bit of a bummer.

2. Well, speaking for myself, I've been working my ass off for
www.johnrussellforcongress.com

I have been for over a year now. But, I did take some time off Sunday for a staff cook-out, but, it was a campaign meeting also.

3. I'm wondering what to do about the corporations and religions who usurp
the lawmaking process... Get a Dem in and we still have to dismantle the money and fear machine's access to power.

4. I can't drive anymore, but I remind everyone I talk to to make sure
they VOTE! Right now, I've been working on the primaries, but as soon as they are over, I will switch to the General in November.

I've also reminded my friends and relatives in Pa. Some of them weren't aware of when th Primary was, and I explained that they could also get absentee ballots if they weren't going to be able to make it to the polls. (As far as I know, every one of them voted in the Pa. primary!)

I'm now concentrating on the Ga. primary. BTW, if I know someone is a STRONG Pub, I don't mention a damn thing!!!!! The srong Pubs here in Ga. can't be swayed! Believe me, I've tried in the past. They simply won't listen or even engage in a debate. I'm hoping they'll just forget to vote!

5. I am very much interested in helping Bonifaz get elected as
MA Sec. of State, however, as far as any other campaigns go, you may as well start saying your prayers, because as long as election reform does not take place the rethugs WILL prevail, by hook or by crook. We can already see that happening. BradBlog and RFK Jr. are the primary voices of election reform right now, doing all you can to support both of them and the effort is of primary importance right now.

I didn't see your post this WE, otherwise, I would have responded.

ELECTION REFORM is crucial!

6. You are a little harsh -
We all have personal lives.

And I don't think anyone here doubts the importance of this November.

I felt, we all did, the bastard was going to bounce - guess he did.

SO let him - the thing about bouncing is you just can't get back to where you started. Always lower.

If you have specific action things we can do, we are all listening.

Joe

7. It's early. We need to assure no voter fraud, to begin. (And beat DeVos)
I think a lot of DUers are demoralized by DLC Dems and Karl Rove voting machines and tactics, but I am confident we will respond and are responding. Here in Michigan, it's amazing what a multi-billionaire can do early in an election, isn't it? Are you taking bets as to when Dick DeVos will acknowledge he is a right-wing Republican? No sign so far. I just hope Jennifer Granholm didn't hire Jim Blanchard's campaign team, but it sure looks like it. Warm, fuzzy color DeVos ads. Granholm black and white, in construction glasses, losing her humanity. Idiocy. Anyway, I'm on your side.

9. DUers are seldom doers.
Edited on Wed Jun-14-06 05:17 PM by LoZoccolo
I posted this similar one:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=2678140&mesg_id=2678140

I do the same thing as you from time to time and ask people what they're doing, and meet with similar results.

I rarely ever see DUers at real functions.

10. Is it DUers not care about winning this election
are they just can't get that worked up about the choice of electing
'Mutt or Jeff'. Because that's all it ever seems to come down to.
Elections are based 90% on money and the money decides who's going
to run and/or be elected. On top of that, the facts have shown that
elections don't turn out the way even the votes were cast.
So aside from starting an armed revolution, tell me just what I can
do to get someone elected w/o big bucks or the code to crack fixed
election machines?

11. They may be deluded due to people spreading the "little difference" lie.
Edited on Wed Jun-14-06 05:20 PM by LoZoccolo
And I have trouble taking people who repeat it seriously.

See you in November.

Yes exactly where we were last November when people decided to keep
Mutt instead of trying out Jeff!

13. So many OPs ... so little time. It is really not easy to get a long
on something that is posted again and again. And we do talk about winning often here. So..ten would be a good responce. I would say.

16. Thanks for asking
So far I've donated to Sanders and Welch. I'm not concerned about Bernie. He's 40 points ahead of the repub candidate, but I am concerned about the House seat he's vacating, and I've volunteered for the dem candidate. Believe it or not, it's all too possible that Vermont could lose its lone house seat to the repubs.

17. I'll have to help someone else
My Congressman is a slam dunk and we've got no Senate race. So until it gets closer to GOTV time, I won't have too terrible much to do. Trying to get a health care as a right amendment on the ballot, but that's about it for me. I suspect there are quite a few DUers with safe districts and no senate races.

18. The Repubs already have it sewed up.
Edited on Wed Jun-14-06 07:29 PM by Kablooie
The final two more years for them to make their plan permanent is already affirmed.

Simply say goodbye to America and get on with your lives the best you can.

And that's the truth.
