Chairman Howard Dean and Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack to Address College
Democrats of America Convention
The Battle for A Better America Continues
Washington, DC-Today, College Democrats of America (CDA) announced that
DNC Chairman Howard Dean and Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack will address this
year's CDA convention participants. For the first time during a mid-term
election year, CDA will hold its convention outside of Washington, DC,
on the campus of Saint Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri. Holding
this year's convention outside the beltway is consistent with Democratic
efforts to organize and reach out to voters several months before the
election, by running a 50 state strategy that refuses to take any vote
for granted.
The 2006 CDA convention, themed "The Battle for A Better America
Continues", will help organize and galvanize youth voters to participate
in the 2006 and 2008 elections, in which Democrats will offer Americans
a bold agenda for change versus Republicans' failed policies of more of
the same.
During the 2004 election, record numbers of youth voters turned out and
made their voices heard. This year's mid-term elections will give young
people a historic opportunity to speak out against the failed Republican
policies that have done nothing to address the concerns of young
Americans about enormous student loans, astronomical gas prices and
limited job opportunities.
The CDA convention will play an important role in preparing
participants to join the fight for a better America, offering on-site
training, workshops, candidate forums and opportunities to hear from
dynamic leaders in the Democratic Party.
