I'm fighting the big, "Don't Give A Shit" feeling...
I'm almost to the point of saying "Screw it!". If the people want 4 more years or even two more years of this crap, then let them have it. Why stand in their way? I'm almost to the point where I think it might be good in the long run to just let them finish the job so we will have to build from scratch, rather than have a few bricks left standing. I'm almost to the point where I think the people may deserve just what they get. If people are so ignorant to not know what is in their best interests and will fall for every bullshit lie somebody lays on them, then why have any sympathy for them and why try to defend them? I'm almost to the point....Almost...

give me hope...I think there is nothing this administration would not do to keep control.

8. Hey kentuck. I say Give in to it!
I do that every day. I don't have much money but I am blessed with a trout pond just a short bicycle ride from our apt.
For two or three hours an evening I cast my flys toward imaginary trout with the same success and ingenuity as Wile E
Coyote. For those three hours I really don't give a shit.

After that I am ready to fight evil and contribute to the demise of the republican Death Star.

Take a break therefore is my advice. When you have had it up to your keester just kick back.
Do what it is that enteertains your soul other than hunting freepers.
You will always care or you wouldn't be in the DU.

noone can fight all day long every day. none of us. take a break, relax, and we'll be right here when you feel like coming back to fight some more.

10. I am there too. But I think we have a chance to gain some ground this
time. I will contribute and vote and hope for the best. It will be an up hill battle. The neocons do not want to give up power and they've had years to build up the data base and rig the machines. We can only win if we vote in such great numbers that their efforts to steal the election again doesn't work.

17. So many times you put into words exactly how I'm feeling, too.
When I read about the suicides of the three Arab detainees at Guantanamo I just sobbed. Sobbed again just now over the fact that the U.S. deputy asst. sec. of state called the hangings a good P.R. move.

I'm so demoralized-- have no more tears to shed, and no more words. How can you fight something if you can't understand it?

Thanks for the clarity, Kentuck. Keep on.

19. kentuck, my friend ....... its cyclical ..... I've been there, too .......
.... sometimes it passes in an hour .... sometimes in a week. I feel really low and shitty ... almost hopeless ..... and then somethng comes along that either pisses me off or gives me hope.

I see it my liberal (smart) friends. I see it in others here on DU.

Hang in there, my friend. We need your wisdom and insight.

20. Totally understand.
Some days I feel like I'm living in some bizarre, awful dream/nightmare that I can't wake up from. Each new outrage from Bush and the Neocons is like being hammered in the head. I don't recognize my country anymore. But I try to keep truckin' --- concentrating on the few bright spots of light out there in the dark. Feingold is like a torch in the night for me. Ambassador Joe Wilson is another bright spot ---- saw him give a really powerful speech on TV yesterday. Internet Blogs and Boards full of like-minded people DO give one the feeling that you're not alone and that MANY people share the same feelings.

21. I think I've been losing the fight, quite frankly.
I'm also reading the book American Theocracy, which is making me feel more hopeless than ever about this country.

I'm seriously wondering whether I shouldn't look into emigrating to Costa Rica or something. This country's headed down the toilet of history, and I'd just as soon be gone when the time comes to flush.

22. Been there
I went from feeling like "I don't give a sh*t if people are this f*cking stupid then they will get what they deserve" to "people are so f*cking stupid that we are all screwed" to "I'm f*cked." I now understand their stupidity as a personal offense and I am outraged. I have been directly and negatively impacted by their stupidity. Who the f*ck do they think they are? Nobody gets a pass here. I will not allow myself to be bullied or manipulated or made to live in fear.

That said, I feel no obligation to make myself a martyr. Given half a chance and the freedom to go and I'm outta here....
