And the classic:

"I know how hard it is for you to put food on your family." (True, but only because they won't hold still.)

Then there's:

"After the bombing, most Iraqis saw what the perpetuators of this attack were trying to do."

And my personal favorite:

"I mean, there was a serious international effort to say to Saddam Hussein, you're a threat. And the 9/11 attacks extenuated that threat, as far as I—concerned."
