Cindy Sheehan Joins Jonathan Tasini Today for Petition Drive Kickoff
Anti-war activist and Gold Star Mother, Cindy Sheehan spoke on Jonathan’s behalf last night at Exhale, a downtown New York City pub that was once the home of Monroe administration Vice-President Daniel D. Tompkins. Sheehan recounted the details of a forty-five minute meeting with Hillary Clinton where she “poured out her heart” to New York’s junior senator, pleaded with her to take a stand against the war in Iraq and consider how she would feel if her own daughter had been sent to die in combat in a foreign land. At the meeting’s conclusion, Mrs. Clinton told Sheehan that they would both have to do what they thought necessary and that she believed that the war would have to be seen through until, “the mission was completed.” Sheehan told the crowd at Exhale that such a statement was “straight out of the Republican playbook” and asked rhetorically “what the mission was" in Iraq at this point.

Cindy Sheehan will be appearing with anti-war progressive Democratic U.S. Senate candidate, Jonathan Tasini today at Union Square Park in New York City to help him kick off his drive to gather the approximately 40,000 signatures required to gain a position on the Democratic primary election ballot this September. Cindy, Jonathan and supporters will begin collecting signatures at 8:30 am and signature gathering will continue in the Park until 7:00 pm.

If you are an anti-war, progressive Democrat and can make it out to the park, come and help us put the politicians on notice: no free pass for those who voted for this disastrous war. If you cannot, tell a friend or go to www.tasinifornewyork.org for more info on to join the effort.

1. Thanks! I'll go to Union Square tomorrow to sign and maybe get a
petition to collect signatures! Been thinking of doing it since I read about the NYS Dems rejecting war as part of the agenda.
