Did I miss a class in American History?
I am so tired of hearing of how the courts are wrong in overturning the "will of the people" in invalidating same-sex bans in various states. Did I miss a chapter in American History that said the courts role is no longer one of protecting the minority from the will of the majority when it clearly violates the principles embodied in The Constitution.

5. Please Re-read Marbury vs. Madison, 1803...
In the political system operating in the United States in June of 2006, the various and several courts assert their authority. Marbury vs. Mdison is the founding doctrine by which the whole Federal Government has assented...

7. Yeh, that sounds like a radical court, protecting the rights of people!!!
Lets use quotes from the Bible and our narrow belief system to make laws against those people.....

I thought we had separation of church and state too!!???

8. as long as a judge rules the way the southern baptists want him
to rule -- he or she is not activist.

it's the southern baptists who judge the judges and tell the rest of us whether they're activist or not.

9. I think I missed the same class.
Apparently it was the same one that declared that WE are now accountable to OUR government. An earlier class taught me it was supposed to be the other way around. Silly.

12. Welcome to DU - you do know the Constitution no longer exists
during the term of this administration. I think they took one of the original copies and used it for toilet paper
