Question about alleged Haditha massacre:
It appears that the marines targeted homes right around the spot where the "IED" blew up one of their vehicles. My question is, would a 'roadside bomber' place the device right in front of his own house? That seems too bizarre for belief, to me anyway.

1. It might have been because the occupants did not warn them.
The young girl who survived said in an interview that she covered up because she knew the blast was coming. Some of the hatred for locals by soldiers patrolling an area is because it seems obvious that the locals are aware of the attacks in their neighborhood. This was part of the story behind the My Lai massacre.

2. Why still calling it alleged?

It happened! There's proof. Don't fall into
letting the republicans try to tone this down.

Peace

4. How about "innoscent until proven guilty"?
Oh, I believe it happened. And I believe it happened pretty much the way Murtha thinks, since he has so many sources from within the Pentagon. And Clark told O'Reilly that his sources in and around the Pentagon pretty much confirm what Murtha has said.

I also think it's pretty obvious that whatever happened, there has been a cover-up, and from the point of view of "morale and discipline" within the military, that's the worst part (I realize the victims and their families have a right to feel differently).

But I also believe the truth will come out, verifiably, and the perpetrators if any will be punished.

What I don't feel so confident about is that the people who put the Marines in a situation that is bound to lead to the type of war crime that is probably Haditha will ever see any justice.
