3. No, They Are Beyond Sick...Beyond Even Depravity
Edited on Sat Jun-03-06 09:14 PM by Lib Grrrrl
Their condition is so far beyond depravity I'm not sure there even is a name for their condition. fucking christo-fascist bastards!

The only thing I can think of to describe their condition is fecalcephalosis.

Also known as Cranial Rectosis...a condition which causes people to lose all feelings for others, simply because their head is jammed up their...welllllll, you get the picture!!

4. I was going to buy this for my bible-thumping bushbot SIL to play on her
Gameboy Advance as a birthday present. Even I decided it was too wierd for me to purchase as a gag gift. Not to mention, she just wouldn't get it. Instead, I got her Totally Spies. She was looking for something "with as little violence as possible to avoid disturbing her sensibilities".

6. You have an excellent point
But I think the game just shows what their mindset really is. The hypocrisy, the bigotry, the violence, the depravity. It puts them on display for what they really are.

8. Our military uses video games to train troops. We're kidding ourselves
if we think the violent ones are harmless.

11. We're not going to get anywhere with this so I'm not going to even try
I've been playing violent video games for years, and have never hurt anyone and have protested against the Iraq War more times than I can remember. I even got arrested for it.

I agree that the concept of this game is sick, but mostly because I think fundamentalist Christians are sick. Because they commit REAL violence in the world. As the poster above said, fundamentalist Christians have killed God knows how many people before video games even existed. Believe me, they don't need a video game to to further their psychosis any more than it already is. They lost their sanity years ago.

So, have a nice day. I learned long ago that these arguments are futile, and nothing ever comes of them and no one ever changes their mind. Good day.

18. Adults may NOT be influenced...but what about
13 year olds? ..sometimes I think our civilization has progressed right to the point where we are beginning to self destruct....we certainly won't be the only great civilization that once lived on this planet, and then totally disappeared..

20. Sorry, not going to take the bait
I've been through too many of these types of debates or arguments about violence in entertainment to even bother. My opinion is set, you will not change it no matter what. I base it off of both years of experience and research (I'm a former journalist). And I'm sure yours is as well. So, have a nice day, and best of luck to you.

24. Not my intention
To change your opinion...or debate you, really.....The fact remains, that no matter how either of us feels, things have changed in our world, and(imo) not for the better....There are strong people who can withstand constant onslaughts of negativity, or violence, and there are those who can't....no one, including you, is going to convince me, that there aren't those who ARE influenced by what they see and hear....or that continual conditioning to violence through tv, music, video games, etc., doesn't begin to blur the lines between right and wrong, or acceptable and non-acceptable behaviour..

This is MY opinion...there is NO need to think I bait you, I simply supplied an opposing opinion...and I will agree to disagree with you...

22. Yeah, reminds me of late 4th-century Rome
before the nasty sh*t REALLY hit the fan, and Rome crumbled in the West for good. Same sorts of things-- foolish resource wars, imperial overextension, severe internal fractiousness, general idiocy among those in charge.

It's a shame b/c the Founding Fathers tried to prevent this, but perhaps not even they could anticipate how imperialistic dreams would overtake us, and how much money would overtake the political process. Ever since Woodrow Wilson, that idiot, succumbed to the arms dealers and brought the US into World War I to boost up their profits, US policy has become a slave to big money, and a slave to weapons dealers in particular. As you say, this has ruined more than a few great civilizations in the past. We're going the way of Rome.

7. In case you're not being sarcastic, people ARE influenced by games
just as they are by television and advertising. The advertising industry wouldn't exist except for all the research that shows how much people are influenced by what they hear and see on the screen.

9. Hey one can blow away the X-tians
The game also offers players the opportunity to switch sides and fight for the army of the AntiChrist, releasing cloven-hoofed demons who feast on conservative Christians and their panicked proselytes (who taste a lot like Christian).

17. Why?
Why send it to a politician at all? What can they do, this type of stuff is protected by the First Amendment, as it SHOULD be, even if neither you nor I agree with its content. To be honest, this wouldn't serve as a good recruiting tool, and would, at best, be used for the "Faithful" as it were to play on their own time. This would be similar to the game "Ethnic Cleansing", if you never heard of it, I wouldn't be surprised, its a game that was released by a White Supremicist group back in I think the 1990s, where you can kill all sorts of "undesirables". I guess they just got pissed that Wolfenstien 3-D, a game where you kill Nazis(its based in WW2) was much more popular.

Hell, anyone can make a game if they learn how to code, just like anyone can learn to write a book. Doesn't really mean anything, just assholes being assholes, whether its the writing of "Mein Kampf" or the coding of the game in the OP. Besides, turnabout is fair game, during the 1990s, hunting games, where you hunt deer, were getting to be popular, and in response, a company came out with a parody where you play the deer, with AK-47s in hoof, as it were, it was MUCH more fun. :)

19. To Publicize it, maybe?
Or get politicians to stop trying to ally themselves with the Christianists by carrying on about violence in the media?

Nobody said anything about banning the game. But there's nothing wrong with calling people's attention to it. Let people see what's really going on in the Christianist mindset, and give people ammunition next time these pious folk start claiming that they're oppressed and persecuted.

21. It is a good thing to point out hypocrisy...
And I can only imagine the pummeling this game will rightfully get in the Gaming magazines like EGM, they really don't take kindly to bullshit like this game, and historically, such games do not do well and are horrible games to begin with. To those outside the gaming community, it may seem odd, but Video Games have, traditionally have a tendancy to be quite progressive in their messages, or just are good fun with no message. This is disregarding war games in general, including the US Army's own game. Me, personally, I play RPGs and some action games, and those either really are parodies of conservative thought or have strong messages themselves. Hell, I just played a game that allowed you to choose the sexual orientation of your character during character creation, and during gameplay, based on that choice, and the right dialog choices, you can get married, whether its homosexual or heterosexual, doesn't matter, and its from a big named company at that, with more than one big name attached to it. Yet, the game itself didn't create even so much as a controversy to most fans of games like that, other than saying "Its about TIME!"

The point being that Video Games are just another medium for entertainment and even learning, just like books, movies, and music. I just really hate when someone critisizes the entire industry because a few crazies decide to make games like this. Not all are like that, and while video games do seem to focus on conflict, so do books, movies and music as well, and that includes violence and sexuality.

12. Did you check this out?
"Left Behind Games CEO Troy Lyndon, whose company went public in February, says the game's Christian themes will grab the audience that didn't mind gore in "The Passion of the Christ." "We've thought through how the Christian right and the liberal left will slam us," says Lyndon. "But megachurches are very likely to embrace this game." Though it will be marketed directly to congregations, Forces will also have a secular ad campaign in gaming magazines.":wow: Boy Mr. Lyndon I would like to see you explain this one, offering games that advocate killing those made in the image of God, on Judgement Day.
