I have called two senators, one congressman this afternoon....
Mel Martinez:

I told his office I was tired of all the wedge issues when our country was falling apart. I ranted quite a bit. I said I hoped our senators had more intelligence than the bunch in the White House. The aide quietly said...they do.

Bill Nelson:

I let it rip. I did find out that he thinks the marriage amendment should be left up to the states, he is taking the "party's" stance on abortion....making them more rare. I asked about his stance on the morning after pill....he does not have one. Will call back and talk to his women's issues person later.

Why did he vote for Hayden? for the fence on the Mexican border? So many issues he voted with the Republicans on. No answer of course.

I said if a moderate Republican was running against him, that person might win. The aide said, but we have Harris...and chuckled. I said that should not be the issue...that he should stand up for things.

Adam Putnam:

I said he had enabled the president to nearly destroy this country by going along with his agenda. I said I was so sorry he had no opponent, but that things would catch up with him someday. I said right now the media was helping them cover up their crimes and mistakes, but it would not be able to stem the flow of the bad news for long.

I said it was time for him to get his redheaded self on the floor of congress...he is 5th in line of control...and start getting this country back on line.

I feel better. It won't matter, but it helped me.

1. Good Job...
They need to either be voted out, or get their asses in gear.

2. Don't kid yourself, it does matter
The more the office staff is aware of the public's opinion, the more they may be able to influence the congresscritter.

Plus their record call logs have an additional +1 in the no support column.

Plus you feel better and that's a plus.

4. If you mean Nelson, very very seldom does he answer anything.
I have one letter he wrote me in 2003 (form), one email he sent (not form) when I said there was blood on many hands about this war. That's it.

5. From my experience
this is unusual. Usually senators' offices will acknowledge mail even if it's only a form letter. Nelson's office hasn't answered mine except form emails answering petitions from MoveOn. Any personal comments by email or snail are not even acknowledged. I wonder if they even bother with a mail count. I am not impressed with his voting record by a long shot.

7. I've Written Him NUMEROUS Times!
Fugeddaboudit! He was SOOOOOOO CLINTON, when Clinton was in, He was sooooo Kerry when he thought Kerry would win, he was sooooooo Castor when he thought Castor would win.

AND THEN, right after Martinez was "selected" as winner.... he is soooooooo Martinez! He goes with the flow, and couldn't wait to praise Mel and say that he "looked forward to working with him!" I sooooo wish we had a better candidate! We're stuck!

Finger in the air all the time, I have a finger too, but not the same one he uses!

6. I've Posted Many Many Times Regarding Nelson....
It's just too bad we have TWO Bad Choices!! Nelson is so so very DINO, but it's him or Cruella!

Harris is my representative, don't bother calling her! It's too silly!

8. For Nelson NOT to have a stand on the morning after pill is ...
an insult to women everywhere. He is waiting with his finger in the air to see which way the wind is blowing.

The aide said almost all of their calls are supportive of the federal marriage amendment and stopping abortions.....so I guess their side is very organized and ours is sitting on our butts.

10. The more I think about it....
for Nelson's office to have to check while I am still on the phone, then have to tell me that "he does not have a position" on the morning after pill....just blows my mind.

Why doesn't he? If there is a pill available to women who might need it in the worst of circumstances, meaning rape....why is there no stance by a Democratic senator?
