Official results: OKLAHOMA (thread 2)
In order to help everyone keep track of the returns from each state, please post all updates in the seven OFFICIAL THREADS posted for this purpose. There will be one thread for each state. Please do not start a bunch of other results threads, as they will just make people confused.

INSTRUCTIONS

Please put the most important information from each update in the SUBJECT LINE of your post, so the returns are easy to follow. Include the two-letter state abbreviation, then the number of precincts reporting, followed by the first three or four candidates in order. Kinda like this:

OK - 00% reporting - Candidate A 00%, Candidate B 00%, Candidate C 00%, Candidate D 00%

This thread is for results ONLY. Please avoid unnecessary discussion in this thread.

OKLAHOMA
Type of contest: Closed primary
Delegates at stake: 40
Poll closing time: 8 p.m. ET

This is the second Oklahoma thread. The first thread is here:

May take some time to get them counted and the spread will be probably be too close without them... that is if it stays the way it has been all night.

36. Yeah,
but in OK County, with 83% reporting,
Kerry is at 11,560 (31%)
Clark is at 11,076 (29%)
Edwards is at 8,586 (23%)

Kerry is only slightly ahead of Clark, compared to Clark's lead over Edwards.

At this point, the most important thing for Clark is keeping a strong lead over Edwards in OK county, and keeping the lead in Tulsa (where Clark is in lead, followed by Kerry and Edwards).

If OKNancy is correct and Tulsa continues to favor Clark, I think he'll be the winner. But a race this close between Clark and Edwards is not good for the Clark campaign, IMO.

64. The point is not where they're from. The point is they're NOT official.
I'm not Jesus, but even I know that in an elction this close, the results are utterly irrelevent at this point. It's a tie.

What the elction board is pointing out on their web site is that these results can change dramtically before they are certified--error, lost votes, absentees, etc. There may even be a mandatory recount, who knows?

Sorry pardner, this race will be a dead even tie until it is certified. And like the site says these results are unofficial.

86. I agree
good showing for Edwards . . .

But Edwards was able to spend less money on advertisements b/c the media has been pretty pro-Edwards the last week, and giving him plenty o'free advertising.

Meanwhile . . . they got the ignore button on Clark. Unless his campaign goes over the speed limit.

And let's see how this is reported. I predict Clark will come in second in AZ, NM, ND, and eek out a win in OK.

Edwards will come in second in OK and MO, and a strong win in SC.

One guess who will continue to be ignored and who will be declared the great hope of taking on Kerry.

I am not trying to knock Edwards, b/c personally I like him (after my man Clark, of course), but this is ridiculous. I think it's impressive that Clark has been able to do this will considering the snooze put on him by the nat'l media, and the outright dismissiveness that is being seen by the pundits.

65. Cnn made a good point about Delegate split
It is not winner take all; it is by % of the vote. So we have a virtual tie even if one wins by a few votes. Looks like Clark may pull out by 1%. he would end up with maybe 1 or 2 more delegate votes though.

79. In Oklahoma it's actually a lot more complicated than that
We have a state party convention later, and 26 "voting districts".
Back in the olden days there was quit a bit of wheeling and dealing.
Anyway there are 47 delegates but only 26 pledged based on the primary. It can get really wild.

68. I would expect the Tulsa area to go for Clark....
I think you can put this one in the General's column.

Who gets the most delegates may be a different story. It will be interesting to see how the congressional districts broke down.

73. I think Clark has this one in the bag
By my estimates, there are as many as 10,000 votes still left to be counted in Tulsa, where Clark has consistently led. So I just don't see Edwards catching Clark at this point. Too bad.

92. Wolf said . . .
ARK-CLAY

But I know what that means.

Blitzer actually said that in races with difference less than 1%, OK requires a recount, and a certification of results, which won't be certified till next week.

Now this becomes the new line from the media 'possible winner of OK Dem primary Wesley Clark' until results are certified.

91. Blitzer just said there will be a recount.
He said the results will have to be certified by the OK board of elections, and that it will probably take a week.

I suppose this means they're going to keep calling it a tie, even if Clark comes out ahead when all's said and done tonight.

95. So Kerry and Edwards get to make rousing victory speaches,
and Clark doesn't.

How about that.
They will ignore his every victory, and call good showings/
second places defeats.

He's the pariah of the campaign.
And he's my candidate, the best one.

Oh look, Kerry's on TV using Clark's strategy of calling
on the vets to stand up.

I mean, I'll concede Oklahoma, you got 1000 more votes, whatever. But don't we pretty much split the delegates anyway?
