Joe LIeberman: Go to another hospital if you want the morning-after pill
http://ctbob.blogspot.com/2006/05/lieberman-vs-day-after-pill.html
------------------

Joe Lieberman supports the approach of the Catholic hospitals when it comes to contraceptives for rape victims (as reported in The New Haven Register, by Gregory B. Hladky on 03/13/2006, via KissJoeGoodbye.Com).

Lieberman said he believes hospitals that refuse to give contraceptives to rape victims for "principled reasons" shouldn't be forced to do so.

"In Connecticut, it shouldn't take more than a short ride to get to another hospital," he said.
--------------------

Does this piss you off? It should.

Show Joe that women are persons worthy of respect. Ned Lamont needs your money NOW to get on TV and introduce himself to CT as a real Democrat and a REAL senator for CT and America!

Also donate because only we can take our party back from the entrenched Washington insiders who take our votes for granted!

Come on DU, let's do it!

1. His callousness is amazing.
And it begs the question -- if one were at a hospital after being sexually assaulted, and had just been through the procedure of having evidence gathered for the "rape kit," and then was refused contraception... then had to travel to another hospital, "short ride" or no, would one have to go through the whole rape kit process again in order to receive the contraception?

3. At the link there are maps
of the "short ride" to the nearest hospital. If you lived where I grew up, in CT, the next nearest hospital is in the next county.

4. I gave Lamont $50
and I'm a student. Send him over even $10, its not the amount of money, it is the number of donors.

9. Mr. Lieberman Has Certainly Gone Far Off The Rails Here, Sir

People simply do not have the right to impose their conscuiences on others who do not share their views by with-holding medical treatment.

11. Using the same logic, ...
if a hospital doesn't want to serve, say Hispanic Americans, I don't see why they should be forced to. After all, if this hospital won't serve you, just drive to another one.

What a fucking idiot!
