Republicans, Tax Cuts for the Very Rich, Budget Cuts for Everyone Else!
This slogan comes to mind, watching Bush sign the Republicans latest tax cut bill, which extends the tax breaks for dividends and capital gains until 2010--it was due to expire in 2008. And yet, the AMT fix in this same bill is for only ONE YEAR! That's right.

This is where the Republicans' priorities lie--with the very rich and powerful, Bush's Pioneers and Ringers-- and those who John McCain is courting by his voting for this extension of the tax cuts on dividends and capital gains.

One might say, "McCain voted against these investment tax cuts, before he voted for for them."

7. And with borrowed money.
If I could charge anything I wanted on my credit card with the expectation that someone else would have to pay it off I'd be living very well indeed.

3. Still the AMT only applies to rich people.
Not the ones that make 6 or 7 an hour.

9. Fair point. AMT relief would primarily go to those making over $100,000.
These could be families with both parents working, maybe more than one job, with several children and a big mortgage.
