and thought many of you might be interested because of what has gone on in calif over the diebold issue.

Dear c,

25 days to go! Please contribute today!

Just off the excitement of our resounding victory at the California Democratic Party convention, where Debra Bowen garnered 80% of the vote to win the Party's endorsement, we are now planning our final weeks before the primary on June 6th -- and there is a lot of work still to do.

Two Field Polls recently showed that we're running in a dead heat, and that 65% of California voters have not made a decision yet in the Secretary of State's race.

We have an aggressive plan to reach voters throughout the state, but with the Field Poll data in hand, we would like to do one last mail piece right before the primary to reach even more voters. We've worked out a plan that will cost $25,000 to reach 80,000 additional targeted households -- but we need your help to get it done.

Help us raise the $25,000 we need to fully fund our voter contact plan -- please contribute to Debra's campaign today!

Debra Bowen's campaign has truly been a grassroots effort. Over 70% of our contributions have come from small donors who have given $100 or less -- that's a larger percentage than Howard Dean had in his presidential campaign.

That's why we're turning to you today!

Please consider giving $10, $25, $100 or whatever you can spare to help us elect Debra Bowen for Secretary of State and ensure that California's elections will be safeguarded for our future.

This last mailing could literally be the difference between winning and losing -- not just for Debra, but for all Californians who deserve a Secretary of State who will fight for fair and accurate elections.

Can we count on your help to raise the $25,000 we need to fund our voter contact plan?

Contribute to Debra's campaign today!

Debra, our terrific staff, and our incredible volunteers have already been working overtime to tell the voters why Debra Bowen is the best choice for Secretary of State. Now, in these final 25 days before Election Day, we need to close the deal with the voters.

By helping us reach our $25,000 fund raising goal by May 31st, you'll give us the resources we need to reach 80,000 more Democratic voters in the closing days before the June 6th primary.

Help us reach our $25,000 fundraising goal by May 31st -- and lead Debra to victory on Election Day!

Thanks for your continued help and support. I hope you'll stand with us in these final critical 25 days.

Sincerely,

Sandra Lloyd-Jones
Campaign Manager
Debra Bowen for Secretary of State

P.S. Your financial support, large or small, will make a huge difference. So please contribute $25, $50, $100, or whatever you can afford and help us reach our last $25,000 fundraising goal!

2. DONE! Donation in the mail! If you contribute to nothing else,
contribute to THIS!

Debra Bowen's campaign is the FRONT LINE of the battle for our democracy! If we can't defeat secret, Bushite, corporate vote counting in California, then we are not going to be getting our country back any time soon.

Pull out that $20 and stick it in the mail today. Or more if you can do it.

We also need the Democratic Party to fund INDEPENDENT EXIT POLLS in all Congressional elections this year (and I'd like to see it in the primaries as well). The war profiteering corporate news monopoly exit polls cannot be trusted. Clean exit polls are the best tool for verifying elections and checking for fraud. And if we lose these elections, or even do poorly, with the Bush junta at 29%, we will need clean exit poll evidence for the long-term fight to get rid of the Bushite-controlled voting machines. Pressure Howard Dean and other party leaders to fund INDEPENDENT EXIT POLLS.

Congressional bills:

Russ Holt's HR 550 requires a real paper ballot, bans secret software in "voting machines", and has more than 170 co-sponsors, but the audit required is too weak, it promotes electronic voting and centralized power, and the secret software might be permitted to continue in the central tabulators (the bill is not clear).
