Hayden (Mr Domestic Spying) to be new DCI?
I've seen this speculation on a few shows today on cable newz.

True .... he's a pro. That's a plus.

True .... he hates the citizenry.

On balance ... a plus or a minus?

I see him as a minus.

He's one of Blackbridge's (Negroponte's) guys

1. Definitely a minus, but..
.. I suspect that Negroponte had him in the wings ready for the chance, which is now.

The whole thing is extremely disturbing.

3. Dems need to block his confirmation.
Plenty of reason to do so. Rethugs will whine about "war on terra". Could be interesting.

6. I'm getting used to misery
...so why not Hayden? I need to go back and read Bamford's take on Hayden in "Pretext for War." Ever since the revelation of the NSA spying, the image of Hayden's flatfooted humiliation on 911 while he complained of the new forms of telecommunication, has always made me think that Hayden "hearts" warrentless everything.

8. It's easy when you buried them
Just give him an old fashioned death squad, and he can entertain himself for hours....days....a life time.

10. Alert: Worst people in the universe running the world
I've heard about the "warm blood" before sunrise theory. I didn't want to mention it in fear of being labeled a conspiracy theorist.

Arrrrgh! This is so bad, I feel guilty laughing at Negraponte jokes. Misery. Everyday...more misery.

13. Stiff Competition
Perle, Negraponte, and Cheney are all in the finals for the Night of the Living Dead Man of the year. The winner will get....ah, you don't want to know. Let's just say this year features Porter Goss. ewwwwww!

OT: Watching NOW. Ben Nelson is an asshole.

11. Oh boy....I'd like to hear Wes Clark's view on him.
He seems to know a lot of these guys going back to the time when they were wet behind the ears. I know the General has never had anything good to say about Negroponte.

14. Done Deal: Hayden new DCI
Breaking news on CNN

And here is diary from Kos:

The Real Michael Hayden

And three days later, you let the court know what you have done, and deal with it that way." Now, with two swings and misses, the White House is offering up perhaps the most pathetic rationale possible: we were lazy, and we just didn't feel like upholding the law. The administration is trotting out Michael Hayden, who was NSA director when the surveillance began and is now Bush's deputy director of national intelligence. The Washington Post reports that Hayden told reporters that "getting retroactive court approval is inefficient because it 'involves marshaling arguments' and 'looping paperwork around.'"

16. I feel that 90% of the Dems vote yes to confirm.
His nom will be a slam dunk.

Now the consolidation will be closer than ever with the CIA nuetered and the NSA solid. Next will be weakening of the DOD.
