22. I agree, Chimp had it coming
The fact that it was so unexpected made it even better.
He's not used to anything but insulated lies around him.
Shock and awe! The audience didn't know how to react in the presence of the monarch. The truth is so confusing and unusual these days.
I'll bet a lot of them (the non-Neocons) laughed their asses off on the drive home. He definitely had this and much more coming.
And he didn't like it a bit.

I don't think humor was his main message.

There is a reason it's called the White House Correspondent's Dinner.

20. It wasn't supposed to be funny. Not necessarily...
And it wasn't supposed to be serious, either. This was a humor-agnostic skit. It's perceived humor or lack of it is entirely a result of each listener's perspective. So it's OK if you didn't find it funny. And it's OK if others did. I believe it was the most brilliant and truthful 1/2 hour exposure of this pResident ever.

Parts were funny to me. Other parts left my jaw closer to the floor than to my nose.

She looked like she had been laughing at the segment where she was chasing him. Looks like they are friends.

13. The Bush 'show' was awful and Colbert was too raw for them.
I knew there was trouble after his first joke about the NSA - I was lol and there was silence in the room.

15. This entire room is out of touch with reality.
There is a fake war going on and soldiers and Iraqiis are dying. There is nothing funny, wheeling in a Navy man without legs was heartless.

Tony Snow is hanging around and appears to be having a good time up on the dias.

23. Colbert was brilliant!!!!!
The crowd wasn't laughing much because they were probably afraid, with the exception of the Wilsons. They were loving it!

Colbert's "satire" was like a punch in the face. He was fearless. He ripped BushCo AND the impotent media.

Bravo!!!
