S.F. Mayor Asks Dems to Avoid Attacks. BRAVO!
Sound advice in any city, state, and on the national level.

Hoping to head off a messy fight for the Democratic Party endorsement in the governor's race, San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom on Friday asked candidates to avoid attacking each other.

In the opening speech at the state party's weekend convention, Newsom said, "Let's not make this convention a circular firing squad against one another.

"The worst thing we can do is limp out of this convention," Newsom said. "We will be doing the bidding of the Republican party."

It is a familiar message. Actor and longtime Democratic activist Warren Beatty told an audience in March that the real fight was not among Democrats but in trying to win back the governor's seat in November.

The American people will trust the Democratic Party to defend America, when they believe that Democrats will defend other Democrats. -- General Wesley Clark

1. An excellent message
And I also like that quotation from Gen. Clark at the bottom of the OP. It bears repeating and repeating: "The American people will trust the Democratic Party to defend America, when they believe that Democrats will defend other Democrats."

Good post, wyldwolf.

It is an awesome sight to behold. Two Dems toe-to-toe, respectfully.

9. It's so funny . . . DU'ers HATED Newsom when he ran for Mayor
Newsom was running against a Green Party candidate and narrowly won -- no thanks to the DU crowd, which was pretty solidly in favor of his opponent.

11. I fully admit he has changed my opinion of him since taking office.
I thought he was a blow-dried tool of Marina developer interests. Hey, Clearly there's a lot more to him than that.

That's good- that's what is supposed to happen when our brains aren't calcified with rigid dogma and beliefs for which there is no physical evidence; we revise our view of reality based on new data as it comes in. It's called growth and learning.
