Bee County (Texas) leaders urging boycott of Exxon Mobil
Jeorge Zarazua
Express-News Staff Writer

BEEVILLE — Texans don't like to be messed with, especially in this rugged South Texas county not far from some of the state's major independence battlefields.

So, it was only a matter of time before Bee County Judge Jimmy Martinez said someone had to stand up to tackle a national epidemic striking at the heart — and pockets — of local residents: Rising gas prices.

This week, Bee County became the first in the state, possibly the country, to pass a resolution asking motorists to boycott fuel pumps beginning Monday.

County elected officials said they would ask others in the state to follow suit.

"Hey, the American people are tired," Martinez said. "What we did is we simply took action instead of complaining.

"We're offering our residents a beacon of hope."

2. Shell. Is Shell okay?
My hubby doesn't like Citgo because he says the quality of gas isn't good.

3. Citgo
is the same as any other gas. All the gas is in a pipeline and stored in huge tanks at depots. The oil companies don't own all the refineries and one of the biggest refiners is Valero, which not many people have heard of.

6. I use Valero...
...it's the cheapest gas in town. The two cheapest here are Costco and Valero.

5. Iirc, Shell is a Dem contributor.
All of their stations around here have solar panels on the roof. I like that, even if they do tend to be a few cents more per gallon. :)

7. While I'm pumping my gas at Valero
I look across the street and see Shell to be 6 to 8 cents more per gallon.

I've been boycotting Exxon ever since the Exxon Valdez spill -- remember that one?
