Telcom wants internet rules changed - and a slew of reports on child porn
myspace.com and how kids are using the internet to plan attacks on schools.

Is this cynical of me to think that the corporate media might be focusing on this in the name of "protecting the children"

1. I don't think it's cynical of you...
90 percent of the time "do it for the children" is a ruse. I think it's cynical on their part to use it, not on your part to realize what they're doing.

2. Agree 100%. Internet porn, even child porn, is not the end of civilization

As horrible as some of the cases are, there are plenty of worse things going on in the world, and lots of criminals getting away with worse. The emphasis on child porn is about 99% red herring -- it smells.

Edit to add: Not to mention that the DHS (Dienst der HeimatsSicherheits) has been involved in child-porn stings, even overseas! WTF?!?
