What do the Republicans campaign on?
At first glance, it would look like the Democrats in a cakewalk. Look at all the problems the Republicans are facing. If we were running against ourselves, we would probably win. But we will be running against an opponent that does not hesitate to lie or to exaggerate.

First of all, they convince their followers that the economy is doing great. Unemployment last month was lower than for the decades of the 70's, 80's, and 90's, they will say. They will say that they are standing up to the terrorists and there has not been an attack on our shores since 9/11. They are not the Party to "cut and run". They will say that they are cracking down on corruption, regardless of which Party, and that some are in jail already. They will ask: "Can the Democrats be trusted?"

So do not expect any easy victories over this crowd. They are very good at propaganda and PR.

4. Or how about
At least you know what you'll get with us.

I heard a variation of that on some talk show. Unbelievable.

We should reward them with more votes, even if they suck at governing because at least we know how bad they are.

5. I think the Dems can campaign with one simple question...
Edited on Wed Apr-19-06 04:12 PM by BIgJohn83
Are you better off now than before the Bush years...

When the Repukes say unemployment is the lowest in X years...
Dems response: Does your job pay all of your bills? Do you have to have more than one job? Do you have to put needed items like Groceries on credit?

Housing starts are up...
Is it a real house or is it a crackerbox condo that was tossed up with shoddy construction at an unreasonable price?

The repukes have no real leg when it comes to healthcare...
Dems: How are your healthcare premiums? What are your prescription co-pays looking like? Did your insurance company drop you because you had too many claims?

Repukes don't cut and run...
Dems: Okay so what exactly is our exit strategy in Iraq? Should we ever consider nuclear weapons as viable options for foreign policy? What ever happened to diplomacy?

Repukes are the party of the American family...
(As long as you agree with 2.4 children, an SUV, a real mommy and a real daddy, and a dog named Condi...)

Geez, sorry about the tangent there...just sick of the whole thing...

7. A response to the job statistics:
Edited on Wed Apr-19-06 04:37 PM by kentuck
The unemployment rate was 4% when the Repubs took over. It appears that the rate they are now bragging about is about 20% higher than when they took over and most of those jobs are not first class jobs.

9. The usual: greed, racism, fear, character assassination of opponents.
Always works like a charm.

And yes do not underestimate the Repugs, they will pull out all the stops.

12. Balanced budget, small government, moral values, freedom, healthcare...
These people are so diluded that they still think it's the Liberals that are driving this country down... selective morality and delusional myopicness go a long way.

13. Basically, the Democrats need to define them with the truth...
rather than let them define themselves.

A little bit of truth in advertising. Iraq was not connected to 9/11 and they did not have any WMDs for starters. Secondly, no Democratic Administration in history has come close to this one in big government spending. They have given away the farm and with it, the $5 trillion surplus they inherited when they came into office. And no, it wasn't spend because of 9/11 or the war on terror or the disaster in New Orleans. It was given away. They said their huge taxcuts would bring in more revenue. Well, where is it?

16. The new Republican message:
"They said we'd all be in jail by now, but look! Here I am! In the flesh and waiting for you to waste your vote. By the way - hate gays, love embryos, ixnay to anyone brown who's not already here unless they're mowing my lawn."
