2. Starting a war over religion is like...
starting a brawl at a sci-fi convention over Kirk vs Piccard.

4. I think monotheism is such an excellent concept...
it must be a gift from the gods.

It never ceases to amaze me that billions have been bamboozled into building their entire lives, murdering, stealing, and raping all in the name of the imaginary abstraction called "God."

10. "I believe in God because it's more fun than not believing in God."
I could probably recall who wrote that if I really tried.

I'm getting a vibe that it might be the guy who wrote Jonathan Livingston Seagull, in a different book.

Whoever wrote it, I like it. More fun than not. The first cause. The force. Who knows what it is, but there's something there, IMHO.

18. yeah, Richard Bach. The Way of the Peaceful Warrior?
I recall reading that book, but don't remember who wrote it.

I remember reading a couple of books by Bach, but I can't recall the name of the one that wasn't Jonathan Livingston Seagull.

9. What a strong statement of faith.
You have made here. But it takes a strong faith to come to a conclusion despite the complexity of this universe and the inability of the best scientist to confirm your views.

28. true, but the force we think of as god could still be there
I believe our belief in god is a rational belief, born of some kind of inherent knowledge. Our attempts to translate that force into some kind of humanly figure are laughable, and result in all the god stories and myths we have.

Jews, Muslims and Christians have been killing each other for hundreds of years and all of them claim that God is on their side.

24. we have a winner!! It's enough that they believe it!!
And truthfully, the genetic data seem to bear out a split about 4000 years ago, very recent for genetics. As I understand it, Jews and Palestinians native to that region are virtually identical, genetically, demonstrating some split about 4000 years ago.

The story of Abraham and Ismael and Isaac is just too damn good. Might have been true. Who knows about whether he was really talking with God, but the two bloodlines? That's for real, yall.

3. Arlo Guthrie sang a song about the Children of Abraham
I remember part of the lyrics:

Children of Abraham,
What's your story
Killing each other for a piece of land....
