What did you think of Michael Brown on The Colbert Report?
He didn't seem genuine to me. He seems to be on a crusade to rework his national character, and in doing so, praises the same administration that hung him up as a patsy. Colbert got him to admit that Chertoff also should accept responsibility, but beyond that, he praised the administration.

I don't like witnessing such an obvious PR push as this. I somewhat feel sorry for Brown, but after watching him on Colbert I feel less so because of his ingenuine performance. Yes, he was a fall guy, but he was a willing fall guy. I think he took the shaft with pride.

What did you think?

1. He does appear to be trying to play both sides of the fence. I don't
think he is being genuine at this point. I bought that he was screwed over at first too. But somebody screwed up.

3. He was fine. Better than Gary Hart the day before.
I don't like Brown, but at least he is standing up. You know Rove doesn't like that. Never saw a more bombout guest than Gary Hart the night before, though. He was pissed, and it showed.

5. He walked out there so full of himself.
He smirked and grinned and seemed to act as if it was all just a joke. I did not like it at all, I thought he could have at least acted sober about the tragedy, instead he seemed all about himself. He reminded me of the type of man who no matter how old he is when he does something wrong, even tragically wrong puts on that sad puppy dog face and says is a mournful tone, "I was a bad boy."

6. You mean a narcissist.
A person who focuses on himself only and fails to empathize with the plight of others... now why does this sound so familiar???

9. Yes that is it.
Thanks, my mind was drawing a blank. A narcissist who thought himself adorable. I understand his emails a lot better now.

7. I agree with your summation. It was embarrassing to watch
him try to be funny.

I can't feel sorry for him in any form after watching The colbert report.

8. He did mention that Homeland Security consists of too many agencies.
I got the impression, too, that he's on a p.r. campaign to repair his image. I was almost embarrassed for him at one point: When Brown acknowledged that this administration hasn't done anything to correct their mistakes, Colbert pointed out something to the effect, "Getting rid of you wasn't a big thing?"

10. I, on the other hand, never felt bad for him
It was always about whining that it wasn't his fault, point the finger at someone, anyone else. He couldn't have gotten the job at FEMA without being a Bush crony, and he was willing to sell out the admin out when they wouldn't help him legally. Even so, he's still just another incompetent crony.

Heck of a job, asshole.

11. I finally caught the re-run this afternoon....
...also at 8:30pm EST tonight. I posted the LA Times preview article here:

If you think about it, Colbert IS A BRILLIANT parody of O'Reilly, and you have to keep that in mind during these *interviews*. Alot of DUers don't get him (Colbert) yet, so we have a few negative posts *not* in support of the Colbert Report.

OK, so my impression of Brownie, he did do a hecka'of a job, you could almost tell it was rehearsed, but Brownies not an ACTor... (it's a comedy show for heaven's sake!), but lots of Brownie points for showing up! I give him extra points after reading the article. His family warned him afterall :applause:
