Ken Mehlman visits Ohio news media, propping up DeWine

and lying about Feingold's censure campaign. DeWine's reelection campaign is off to a very slow start in Ohio, where the GOP is toxic from scandals.

He couldn't say much about DeWine, so he decided to attack Dems in general via Feingold, referring to ads that say he's attacking Bush for pursuing suspected members of AlQaeda. No doubt some newspapers will fall for it.

1. I think the GOP sent their talking points memo out

that their new strategy is to put fear into Republicans that if they let the Democrats take control of the Legislative branch, Bush could be impeached. They couldn't come up with anything to campaign on and finding their bag of fear tactics used up... they decided the best thing would be to put the fear into Republicans that * could be impeached. Rally the troops.

2. The Dems have to get out front on this.

They have been so damn silent and allowing the Republicans to frame the NSA wiretapping issue. The truth is that Dems don't dispute the wiretapping, they dispute the ILLEGAL warrantless wiretapping being done by this administration.

Is is so frustrating waiting for SOMEONE to come out and start hammering this distinction.

Oh, BTW, Mehlman is a wiener. Pass it on.
