People should not be afraid of their governments ... cartoon
Thursday's cartoon continues our V for Vendetta theme this week, commenting on the way Bush runs the country, and the way a hero would have us view that.

1. Maybe someone needs to remind Chimpy
exactly who is taking us to the edge of oblivion? :eyes:

Nice tie-in BTW.

2. Thanks. I'm using all quotes from the film this week.
With appropriate license, when needed, to make mention of Bush.

We'll finish the theme tomorrow.

I wanted to give it some personality, which is why we went with Feingold. He's the clear Bush Nemesis at this moment, with his Censure motion.

I want readers to see Bush as he is, as I see him, and as his character is in V for Vengence.

We're the good guys, and we're the ones fighting to stop this fascist excess.

4. I really like this one today. To me, it's the essence of the issue.
The quotes by the Bush character versus those of our hero, that is.

5. I REALLY like this cartoon, especially its concept
From the phrase by "V" emerges the beauty of Thomas Jefferson in concise terms.
TJ said,

The People are Capable of Exercising Sovereign Powers

"Independence can be trusted nowhere but with the people in mass. They are inherently independent of all but moral law." --Thomas Jefferson to Spencer Roane, 1819.

"I have such reliance on the good sense of the body of the people and the honesty of their leaders that I am not afraid of their letting things go wrong to any length in any cause." --Thomas Jefferson to C. W. F. Dumas, 1788.

"Whenever our affairs go obviously wrong, the good sense of the people will interpose and set them to rights." --Thomas Jefferson to David Humphreys, 1789.

"Our fellow citizens have been led hoodwinked from their principles by a most extraordinary combination of circumstances. But the band is removed, and they now see for themselves." --Thomas Jefferson to John Dickinson, 1801.

"Reflection,... with information, is all which our countrymen need, to bring themselves and their affairs to rights." --Thomas Jefferson to James Lewis, Jr., 1798.

From his grave, Jefferson screams "Be afraid Big-britches government. BE VERY AFRAID!

7. In the interest of fairness, here's a few words from the first republican
Nearly all men can stand adversity,
if you want to test a man's character,
give him power.

8. Isn't that the truth?!
Bush is dangerous now because he realizes no one can or will stop him.

11. ARRGH! I can't believe how many times I've said "V for Vengeance"
I find myself writing "V for Vengeance" instead of "V for Vendetta."

I did it at least once on this thread.

that's annoying!!
