Egotism
Why, Katherine? Why are you spending so much money to run?

Why, with these poll numbers, and her recently discovered dealings with Mitchell Wade, does she insist on staying in the race?

Egotism.

It's not about country, or state, or party. It's not about government or justice. It's about Katherine Harris' massive ego. Her own chief strategist urged her to quit fer chrissake.

In order to prove to herself that she did the right thing in 2000, and to let the Republicans know she wants to pass "Go!" and collect her $200, she got a story, and she's stickin' to it. She's gonna win! Fueled by an unhealthy balance of narcissism and denial, she's devised a not-so-brilliant plan.

Make it impossible for lesser known Republican competition until the party you helped to take the White House in a bloodless coup d'etat has to come out and humiliate you publicly by finding and supporting another candidate.

Take money out of your own bank account to save your image, and run despite lower than bedrock poll numbers (20 points behind Bill Nelson at the moment), and your own lobbyist scandal. Force yourself on the people of Florida despite the fact that no one wants to see you again.

Egotism.

My advice for you, Kathy: Look around and listen to the word on the street. It's time to go home. The lights are going on, the bartenders are washing up.
Like the most annoying barflies and that one last guest, you are "The Thing That Wouldn't Leave". The party's over; even the Republicans don't like you.

Haven't you done enough damage for one lifetime?

1. Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.
She sure is pissing away her inheritence.

6. This whole crew suffers from
the effecs of one of the seven deadly sins or another. She, to me, personifies greed, pride and envy.

2. I work with people who are mentally ill--
the narcissism, sense of entitlement labels are considered a "bad thing." People with those labels don't get the "nice" labels--like "has empathy" or able to express "remorse." About the only thing one can hope for is that Kathy-girl squanders all that money, loses the election and discovers that she doesn't have the support she deluded herself into believing was there.

3. It would be so fitting

if she ended up having to live off a Wal-Mart salary. Can we include delusions of grandeur in there somewhere?

5. If KH sticks with it, and spends herself back to reality,
might she at all have anything enlightening to tell us, vis-a-vis the "other" side?

All kidding aside, is it possible that there's something interesting from yesteryear that she might know and want to speak about, somewhere down the road?

7. It seems she's a loyal soldier at this moment
but if that should change, and if she is ousted by the RNC, who knows? IMHO, she's not going to spill unless she's been done verrry wrong. Not that I wouldn't like to see that.

8. Hey, let her be the candidate and lose big.
If she jumps out, doesn't that mean another Republican could jump IN? Maybe a better candidate? I say, you run, Katherine Harris, run run run! Go girl! :woohoo:

9. LOL
Yes, it's true they'd have to put up another. In fact they're actively looking -- how embarrassing. I can't think of who it would be since all the Repubs in FL want to be Governor.

Don't get me wrong: I love that she's sticking around. It's another chapter in the political circus that is FL. I'm more amazed that she doesn't care, or even seem to notice, that no one wants her around.

10. I, for one, fully endorse her decision to spend all her money
to lose this seat.

America: what a country!

:)
