6. Here's the difference
The Attorney General is supposed to be working on behalf of all of the American people.

Bush's private counsel (Harriet Miers, I believe) has George Bush as a client, no one else.

Gonzales is supposed to be working in my interest and in yours, not personally for the president. If you'll recall, Janet Reno was often at odds with President Clinton. Think what you will of her, but she was doing what she was hired to do, which is to look out for our interests.
