Dad To Son: Join GOP Or Else
Dallas Morning News 3/11/06

Blood may be thicker than water, but does it trump political allegiance?

Not for the father and son duo of Ted and Teddy Gambordella.

Ted Gambordella dislikes the idea that his only son, a Highland Park High junior, is a Democrat. He loathes it so much that he has flat-out refused to pay for his son's college education unless he becomes a Republican.

"Yeah, I'm serious," said Mr. Gambordella, a 57 year-old martial arts expert. "He's got to earn his own way."

That suits Teddy just fine.

The 17-year old said there's no way he'll switch to the GOP just to get his father's financial backing. He recently started a web site - onemillionreasonswhy.com - to raise money for college.

It's not about the money," said Teddy, who spent two years wrestling for W.T. White High before joining Highland Park's team last fall. "It's about spreading knowledge about Bush and his administration and proving my dad wrong. It's more of a principle thing."

The premise is similar to milliondollarhomepage.com, started by a 21-year old Brit in August to pay for college. Supporters purchase pixels - dots on a computer screen - as advertising space. The pixels cost $1 a pop, with a minimum purchase of 100.

1. Someone did a diary on this over at Kos
And after looking at the kid's website several folks over at Kos determined that this might be some kind of scam.

4. Doesn't daddy see that the money for education is being wasted?
Not on the son.

In a country that sells out to the lowest dollar.

Hence offshoring of everything, even the jobs being claimed sre staying in the US - because those too can be offshored for less.

As they say: Companies will go to the ends of the globe for their people. Then find out they can get the same work done for 90% cheaper because it's just business. (problem is, the LOYALTY to COMPANY and to OUR COUNTRYthat made these corporations up from zilch isn't part of those costs! The result is cheap garbage, made by people whose government doesn't like us... you bet I don't understand!)

So, what does daddy know that his kid doesn't?

But if only it was that simple; We being told to convert and life prosperously, or have no life worth living at all...

11. He's teaching his son what it means to be a good Republican!
He's teaching him that principles have a dollar value to Republicans.

8. It smells like a scam to me
I can hear Daddy and Junior laughing all the way to the bank at all the "liberals" paying for his college education.

I always laugh when I read or hear people claiming that it "isn't about the money". It is a "tell" in my book.

10. Save his sister too!
This is from his site:

First and foremost, if I make enough money, I will pay my way through University. That includes 4 years worth of tuition fees, accommodation fees, textbooks etc, and being Very Very active in the campus political community as well as local political community. I intend to run for Class offices, and even local offices to begin my campaign to Take Back America for the People.
2nd I am going to buy a hybrid car and put a giant sign on the side that says One Million Reasons Why.Com, so every where I go people can see the sign and go to the web site.

I want to go to College to get a Masters Degree in Political Science and become a Politician and DEFEAT THE REPUBLICANS before they ruin America More.

After that, I would like to pay for my Sisters education too, so she Won't have to become a Republican and stay true to her Democratic Beliefs and get an education too.

Teddy is trying to Save his Sister from Becoming a Republican too!

9. An amazing young man
I advise college students, and I will just say that this is one smart and courageous kid. It's also a good example of how the GOP persuades young people to follow all their great ideas. :puke:

During the 2004 election, a couple of my students told me they wanted to vote for Kerry, but their parents "would kill them." Then I explained to them how it wasn't anybody's business who they voted for, that it was between them and . . . Diebold . . . damnit. You know what I mean.

12. Or, if he wanted to, he could be a mole
Sign up as a Republican, take the father's money, finish his college education,
and then change affiliations. If his father questions him, he can always say:

"I took money to lie about what I believe in! What's more Republican than THAT?"

13. Are there no college loans?
Why is this kid asking for someone else to pay for his education? It really does look like a scam. I paid for my son's bachelor degree, but he had many friends that had to take out loans for the same thing. Is that not an option for this kid?
This looks like a double scam. If he doesn't get money, he can say liberals don't put their money where their mouth is. And if he does, four years from now, he can say he conned a bunch of fools into paying for his education. Both son and daddy will laugh all the way to the bank. He can be on Oreally, and Hannity, and flush.
