I won't "settle for better than what we got now" until that is my only choice. To accept that as our standard is pretty friggin pathetic.

I want true leadership and someone that believes in what this country should be and can be. Al Gore has that spirit. Hillary has compromised and kissed assed and adopted republican positions (repuke-lite) to appease. Leadership is not kissing ass to get somewhere, it is standing up and saying what must be said and trying to make a difference, imho.

But I think that applies even moreso to this thread. I think it's silly to call Clinton/Warner as the winner of the '08 election without thinking about who they'll face in that election, no?

If Hillary were at the top of a ticket, no matter who the running mate is, she unifies the Rethugs as they've never been before, while angering the core of the Democratic Party who are against the pro-war, pro-corporatist consensus of the DLC (unless she changes her tune very quick). Warner, while apparently DLC himself, has somehow so far managed to avoid the worst of the DLC excesses and racked up a record of remarkable achievement as governor of Virginia. Still waiting to hear what he has to say about Iraq, but so far, he's doing well.

Warner/Clark or Clark/Warner would be a powerhouse in the Red States and Swing States, which is where we need to be focusing our efforts. This would be our strongest ticket.

21. What's the point of putting Mark Warner on the ticket?

He may walk on water in Virginia, and I believe he could carry the state if he were the party's nominee. But there's no way that Virginia goes blue if Hillary is the nominee. Moreover, I have a hard time thinking that Warner would have much interest in being VP. I suspect that if he doesn't get the party's nomination, he just might run for governor again in 2009.
