Important Dem. primary today: Cuellar (DINO) vs. Ciro Rodriguez (real -D)

Cuellar is the incumbent Repuke-masquerading-as-a-Democrat incumbent in Texas's 28th Congressional district who has rarely missed an opportunity to vote with the Bushistas and do their bidding. He was the one photographed with Bush doing kissy-face after the State of the Union speech, and he is the only Democrat to ever have been endorsed by the Club for Growth (Grover Norquist). Rodriguez was the one who lost his seat due to redistricting and a very fishy election wherein Cuellar's camp mysteriously "found" votes after the election -- juuuuust enough to put him in office. Until very recently, conventional wisdom said Cuellar was a shoo-in for re-election, but that was before the netroots got involved -- ActBlue, DailyKos, MoveOn, unions and others have helped raise big bucks and get feet on the ground to make Ciro competetive. The primary is today. However, if neither gets 50 percent, it goes to a run-off (the likely outcome). There is no Republican challenger.
