Media Action Alert! Ensure Balance on this Sunday's Political Shows
Fwd MoveOn Media Action Alert:

Dear Media Action member,

Just two weeks in, The Monday Project is making waves by finally holding the Sunday morning political talk shows accountable for years of right-wing guests.

This Sunday, you can be part of this new campaign to guarantee balance on the most influential political TV of the week. We'll walk you through it, and what you report on Sunday will inspire the action everyone else takes on Monday.

Can you sign up to watch at least one major Sunday morning political talk show, then share your opinion on the show? Sign up here:

http://civic.moveon.org/mediaaction/mondayproject/?id=6964-2816368-MEZnOfInhKn5aVBoaqwMcw&t=3

As you know, our friends at Media Matters released a study two weeks ago revealing an imbalance of right-wing guests on the major Sunday morning political talk shows. Since then, Media Action members like you have watched the Sunday shows for political balance every week, then called the shows immediately after if they failed to host a balanced debate. This lets the shows know we're watching.

After you call the show, tell us what example of imbalance you found. We will take the most outrageous example and send it to other Media Action members on Monday—hence, The Monday Project.

When you sign up to watch NBC's Meet The Press, CBS's Face The Nation, and/or ABC's This Week, we'll give you everything you need:
Information on show times in your area

Key things to look for when you watch a Sunday show
Contact information for each show
Please sign up to watch at least one political talk show this Sunday morning here:

Thanks for all you do.

4. Hey there, r4p!
:hi:

The media is supposed to belong to ALL the people. The airways BELONG TO US! It's only with their corporatization that their bias has become an actual problem to us and our Party. It is time we took back the media -- radio, tv, print -- ALL... it belongs to us, it is meant to serve us, it is meant to inform us... ALL OF US, not just the RW hate-machine base.

If you think about it, if we can take back the media, how much easier all the other things you mentioned -- Diebold - Ohio - Impeachment -- could start falling into place.

Another reason we need a more balanced media: We need to convince the other Democrats in the US there is someone other than Hillary Clinton running for President before it's too late. So, yeah, it's REALLY important!

6. Telecommunications Act of 1996 - One of the Most Destructive Acts Clinton
Made against our democracy:

http://www.fcc.gov/telecom.html

The Telecommunications Act of 1996 is the first major overhaul of telecommunications law in almost 62 years. The goal of this new law is to let anyone enter any communications business -- to let any communications business compete in any market against any other.

And Cable sees itself as a PRIVATE BUSINESS - not a Public Resource, like abc, cbs and nbc is, which broadcasts over the air.

3. Howard Dean was on with Woofie's Situation Room this week.
Woofie kept trying to undermine Dean and slip in his usual snarky innuendo, but Dean was having none of that. He just kept slamming the truth right back across Woofie's bow.

who at CNN gives him permission to be a snarky asshole to Dean? A question I'd love to ask him in person. I wish a reporter would .

8. Instead of just complaining about the media, take action now!
Edited on Sun Mar-05-06 01:46 PM by radio4progressives
lots of posts complaining about tweety, wolfy, timmy and georgie porgie... with good reason, but the complaints of outrage and 'shocking bias' is endless, has been going on for years, yet none of these people take any action. you know who you are!
