Scenes in India, then and now
http://thinkprogress.org/index.php

Thinkprogress blogspot has a thread about Clinton's visit to India in 2000 and another thread about Bush's visit today.

I've got to shake my head. People have compared the world's love and affection for Clinton and its disdain for chimpie. I don't need to do again, but two groups of Americans stand out in the comparison. The beltway whores and the fundies. The beltway whores hated Clinton even before he got there, witness the NYT and WaPo vendettas against both Clintons. The fundies are the same, and I think they hate Clinton just because they know they would never have had the power with the Clintons they have now with chimpie. The opposite of the beltway whore hatred for the Clintons is their unfathomable groveling for chimpie. Almost a day does not go by without some evil DUer commenting on tweety's expressions of his manly love for chimpie.
There was a time, perhaps, when the US had a good political press corps. Like so much of American business, I think some foreign country bought it and moved it out of this country. How else to explain the talking head fools we see every day.
