Anyone carry petitions for ballot access?
How should I carry petitions this year?

I am part of my local democratic party. This year in NYS there is a local race for State Assembly, two local NYSCD (19 - Sue Kelly)(22- Maurice Hinchey), and statewide races for Senate (Hillary Clinton), Governor (Spitzer), NYSAG (open), NYSComptroller (Hevesi).

I am a liberal, progressive, democrat.

I am pretty sure that PDA is calling for a primary against Hillary Clinton. I have decided to carry petitions for both the PDA candidate and for Hillary.

There is also a “MIHOP” candidate running against Hillary Clinton. This guy, Steve Greenfield, used to be a green, but joined the Dem party in order to run against Hillary Clinton in the primary. Steve Greenfield is a “pure” green, meaning that even great Democrats like Dennis Kucinich and Maurice Hinchey are not “left” enough for his support, imho.

My question to you is, “Should I carry petitions for Steve Greenfield?” I was considering it due to the fact that he left the green party and joined the Dems. I think that it might help to reach out to my fellow lefties that think “that there is no difference between the two parties.”

Thank you in advance for any thoughts and ideas. Peace and low stress, mdmc

6. Can a person in your state sign multiple petitions?
Or can you only sign one petition for a given office?

7. If you're looking for opinions...
Mine is that I wouldn't support a canidate running aginst a good Democratic Senator. So I would only seek signatures for Senator Clinton.

8. ...If only she were good!
Clinton is the only Dem running for state-wide office in NY that doesn't support gay marriage (even the party supports it!), supports the war in Iraq and, in the last few weeks, has accused the White House of being 'too soft' on Iran; it's no coincidence that Bolton and Cheney came out with strong language against Iran this week. What a lovely sight, my own supposedly liberal Senator pushing this administration to new heights of war-mongering!

By the way, I think the Dems would approve Clinton as a candidate in the primary at a party convention - so they'll be no petitioning necessary for her. So, carry petitions for Tasini! There are quite a number of PDA events throughout NY state over the next week or so which Tasini will appear and speak at - find one and go hear him speak.
